Ivy Tech Thread- NOT in program yet (taking pre-reqs)

Published

I was wondering if there would be interest in starting an Ivy Tech thread for those not in any program yet, for those still working on Pre-reqs.

I am taking anp102 in the fall in BLoomington, Tech writing online, plan on taking my Teas sometime soon. Going to apply to several campuses for the ASN program.

They have added Intro to Chem and changed the Math pre-reqs now for Ivy Tech ASN as of Fall 08. They are going to grandfather Math 111 for a few semesters supposedly.

Hey Y'all! The good news is that I got my Compass out of the way today. The bad news is that the earliest I could be accepted is for the Fall 2010 term (gulp)...unless I tried to do APHY 101 right now online. Anybody ever try that, or hear of someone that did?

Not to hijack the thread, but am I the only one that's been through hell just trying to get started on my pre-reqs and co-reqs??? It has truly been a nightmare!! You call one person to ask something, they direct you to person b who connects you to person c where you just get a voicemail, then never get any response, or they tell you to go back to the person you started with! I just want to know what co-reqs ive got covered from my previous degree!! arg! ok sorry, rant over...

but seriously has anyone else had these issues?

Well put it this way. . . I had official transcripts submitted back in September and they STILL have not been evaluated for transfer credit yet. They were received (I had someone in the registrar's office check on the computer) but are sitting somwhere on a guy's desk up in Muncie. I originally had registered through that region (east central) so I had my transcripts sent there, but since then I transferred to the Indy (central region) campus. Now my transcripts are up there and for some reason the ONE guy they have up there to evaluate them has not done it yet. I should just go ahead and get new ones sent right to Indy. It's ridiculous.

Wow, good grief! Mine were submitted directly to Indy back about September as well. It's so frustrating! I just want to know for sure that my co-reqs are covered, which they should be, so I know what to be registering for. If I had other options, I would not be going to Ivy Tech

Oh man, that doesn't sound good if yours at Indy still aren't evaluated either. They better get it done before I want to apply for the Sept. deadline.

I'm applying for the same deadline! maybe we'll be classmates lol.... if they ever evaluate our transcripts anyway!

I think I will have to go in to the nursing office some time and ask them what to do about it. I won't let Ivy Tech's snails pace keep me from applying.

That's a good idea, the advisor I had talked to the other day told me they have walk in hours on Mondays I believe from 1-3 Ill have to double check that, but I think I will be doing the same.

Just a heads up about Ivy Tech. If you want anything done, it's really best to actually go to campus and talk to someone in person. You will sit holding on the phone for an hour, only to be told nothing that is helpful. And then nothing gets done.

agreed. if you can go to lawrence campus, they are quick and easy. Downtown Indy- forget it. longg wait. calling is impossible. you wait forever and they still can't help you, then you have to go in anyway.

I went into Lawrence today for the open advising time. I found out that to apply, all you need are copies of official transcripts--the college does not need to have officially given transfer credit yet to be able to apply for nursing. So that makes me feel better, since I know the college does have my official transcripts from the other schools I went to, so I will be able to get copies. She told me that it's due to the new computer system the college switched to last summer that has caused a huge backlog of transcripts waiting to be evaluated. I do need credit for English comp since I want to register for Eng 112 or 211 for fall and I can't register for either of those until the credit gets applied from my transcript. But for the psych, they just have to get it done by the time I would graduate in 2011 LOL.

She also said that they offered summer classes and about 95% of the current ASN students wanted to do it. So, hopefully they will keep offering summer classes because if you start Jan 2010, you have 2 summers to take a couple of classes and then you would graduate at the end of Aug. 2011 instead of Dec. 2011.

Wow that's some great information to have!! I was hoping to get over there today but didnt get the chance. Just registered for my summer classes, so I'm one step closer to that Sept. 1 deadline wooo! :)
