I was wondering if there would be interest in starting an Ivy Tech thread for those not in any program yet, for those still working on Pre-reqs.
I am taking anp102 in the fall in BLoomington, Tech writing online, plan on taking my Teas sometime soon. Going to apply to several campuses for the ASN program.
They have added Intro to Chem and changed the Math pre-reqs now for Ivy Tech ASN as of Fall 08. They are going to grandfather Math 111 for a few semesters supposedly.

I am finishing up Math 118 this semester and Sociology 111. I hope to get into the LPN to ASN program at Ivy Tech Indy. I want to go on for my bachelors at ISU but am not sure about the 2hour drive. I hate to move and I have heard some bad stuff about the program through The College Network and ISU. Does anyone know if it is easier for the transition students to get into the Ivy Tech program for RN? Are they accepted before other students? I know that they go by a points system for grades, etc..

Does anyone know anything about these courses?
Advanced Medical Terminology MEAS 215
Diseases & Conditions MEAS 242
Pharmacology MEAS 218
Medical Law & Ethics HLHS 105
Lifespan Development PSYC 201
Child Growth & Development ECED 120
Child & Adolescent Development EDUC 121
I need two "fillers" to reach part time status...In summer 2009 I'm going to take Micro and need a filler to go with it and also one to go with Advanced Physio for Fall 2009.
Any advice, guidance, comments?
Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

Hey lady. I would probably at least take Lifespan Development. I am sur eyou already have all of your social science credits- but this is one that is an option for the program so I bet you would really benefit from it! And if you are still taking HLHS next semester I would probably do Adv. Med Term...or maybe Pharmacology if you can. Do they have an pre reqs? From what I heard- Med Law isn't an easy class. One girl in my APHY class was told she had to get an A in that to help guarantee admission into the Surg Tech program. Although I bet its super interesting!
yay for all of us! I know that its weird now not having to study! Heck I actually watched a movie last night for the first time in like 4 months (that wasn't school related). I don't know what to do with myself having all this time off! I got my books the other day and I an anxious for 102 to start. Melissa- glad we are taking it together I can trust that you will keep me in line! LOL Hope everyone else did well this semester!
Which English class is the one that you learn about APA and MLA formats? Is it 111 or 112 or 211? I took English comp during my freshman year of college back in 1987, so I should get credit for 111 (although I haven't yet--sheesh, how long does it take for them to evaluate a transcript for transfer credit?) but since it has been SO LONG since I've had to write a paper, I don't remember how to cite things or do a bibliography, etc. Maybe I should just go ahead and take 111 just to refresh my memory? Or is 111 more of a basic writing course and 112 or 211 is where you learn the specific APA or MLA format that nursing school will expect you to know?
Well, usually after ten years a campus will require you to retake the couse. This is all dependent upon the college and program though. English 112 teaches the basics of sighting and the writting process is continued more indepth. I would have looked up MLA and APA on the internet and used that information to write my paper. I hope that this helps! APA format is used for science classes and sociology however MLA is the typical format for most college writting courses. Good Luck and Keep Plugging Away!
