Ivy Tech Spring 2011 Applicants

Published

Hey, just seeing who's on here that will be applying with me. I'm applying to Muncie, Kokomo, and Ft. Wayne. I feel like this is all I think about already. I'm retaking a couple of pre reqs this summer to improve my score. I've already taken the teas but will probably retake it as I only received an 83. I've also attended all the nursing info sessions. What is everybody else doing to prepare? I'm so paranoid about forgetting something! I'm looking forward to talking with people in the same boat. Or if anyone who has already applied wants to share advice, I'd gladly listen!

Still no letter today for Lawrence Transition Program... I am going CRAZZZZY!!!

It was completely different from what I thought it was going to be! I have never worked in a hospital or really known exactly was a nurse does (especially a nursing student), and I didn't have it in me to do all of the "clinical" work that was required. Don't get me wrong, I do care about people, but the job description far exceeds my "comfort level." It seems a lot of my fellow classmates were just as shocked as I was about what they were expected to do in clinicals, but they were much "stronger" individuals than myself. Four people dropped out of the program within the first six weeks (myself being one of them.)

Well in a way, you still allotted your spot to another, LPNs who are interested can still move up since its only the first semester. I have been worried about the things required as well. I mean, you know what a nurse does, but you don't see all the "nitty gritty" behind the scenes work. I know I personally won't be bothered but I can see it definitely being an adjustment period for me! Thanks for your input and I appreciate you being honest about your experiences. If I may ask, what campus were you at? I just got into Indy and it would be nice to speak with someone who was accepted there!

No letter from FW today. Anyone else? Fort wayne people: please post as soon as you get your letter please!!!
