Hey, just seeing who's on here that will be applying with me. I'm applying to Muncie, Kokomo, and Ft. Wayne. I feel like this is all I think about already. I'm retaking a couple of pre reqs this summer to improve my score. I've already taken the teas but will probably retake it as I only received an 83. I've also attended all the nursing info sessions. What is everybody else doing to prepare? I'm so paranoid about forgetting something! I'm looking forward to talking with people in the same boat. Or if anyone who has already applied wants to share advice, I'd gladly listen!
I am really bummed I got a denial letter from lawerence Friday I had 197 not sure what cut off score was does anyone else no thanks and congrats on those who did get in.
Hang in there!! I'm hoping for Valpo or Gary and when those come I'll be declining Indy...which leads to another LPN opening. Be positive and if you want it that bad you will get it!!
Has anyone heard any more from Gary? Like if they are ever sending letters???
I have to disagree. I myself dropped out of the RN program just a week ago and it was my first year. (And trust me, it was NOT because classes were too difficult!) I understand that you may really want to be a nurse, but I discovered it just wasn't for me. That being said, you have no right to get in over me, because my scores were very high, and I EARNED my spot fair and square. I'm sorry if this upsets you, but it is what it is.
If I may ask..why did you drop out?? Was it different then what you thought it was going to be? Good luck with you future endeavors!:)

It was completely different from what I thought it was going to be! I have never worked in a hospital or really known exactly was a nurse does (especially a nursing student), and I didn't have it in me to do all of the "clinical" work that was required. Don't get me wrong, I do care about people, but the job description far exceeds my "comfort level." It seems a lot of my fellow classmates were just as shocked as I was about what they were expected to do in clinicals, but they were much "stronger" individuals than myself. Four people dropped out of the program within the first six weeks (myself being one of them.) There were a select few of my classmates who had a strong, lifelong desire to be nurses, and I respect them more than anyone, because it really does take a lot of compassion and strength to be a truly dedicated nurse. I was in it for a quick degree and decent salary...big mistake on my part. Good luck to all of you on your journies!

I called Gary last week and they said the middle of October. Did your letter from Valpo come today?

You have a right to your opinion, as do I. With that being said, its my opinion that its very selfish to accept a limited seat in the program when you aren't sure its what you want. It'd be easier to swallow if you failed out!! I would think you could check into nursing job requirements before you wasted your and your instructors time. You come off as very arrogant but I hope you understand while I give you congrats on doing well, your "very high" score says nothing except you may have good study habits. It does not mean you are a quick on your feet, or have the skills to problem solve in a high stress situation. You may have EARNED your spot fair and square but regardless someone who may be a wonderful nurse isn't in the program. And that's what still ticks me off. Good luck in your future.
I did it!!!! I was accepted at Valpo for the ASN. I am so happy and relieved. Good luck to all of you still waiting.(this is me dancing around my kitchen!)
Oh, btw, to the Valpo applicants - if I get into the program at Gary I am going to decline Valpo.
I had a 211 for those wondering.
Thats awesome!!! Congrats!! I can't check the mail yet!! I hope I get in to Valpo too!
hi everyone can someone please explain this to me. i got this from jewel (ft. Wayne ) when i asked about my possibility of getting into the nursing program. because i do not know if it is what am thinking.
"Expect a letter some time next week for acceptance to ASN. We will not send PN letters until two weeks later unless they get done early. In the end, acceptance and denial letters will be sent for both programs. "
