Ivy Tech Fall 2017 Hopefuls

Published

Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)

I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.

I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.

So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.

On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.

I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.

About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

I'll tell you what. Every step of the process from start to end is stressful, but you will never, ever regret any of it. I about had a heart attack when my license number popped up and changed to active.

Congrats!!! Just thinking about that feeling makes me feel like excited all over again :)

I'm still hopeful for Crown Point and Valpo but after emailing my advisor about what my next step is, she suggested coming in to go over what classes I can take for the Fall semester and mentioned earning a certificate. I'm wondering if both programs have filled up for the Fall semester.

Well, if it's true that the orientation letters get mailed out after the spots are full, spots are not full at the Valpo campus. I was accepted first round and I haven't received any information regarding orientation!

I haven't heard anything else from Muncie, either. That must have been a location that had very few spots? Or very few applicants? I mean the location that sent out orientation letters already.

I've heard the same regarding the orientation letter. I got in first round for Fort Wayne and haven't gotten anything, so I'm guessing we still have spots open!

I hope Fort Wayne still has openings and I get an email tomorrow. I hate this waiting!

I totally understand! It seems like emails have been going out before 10am or a bit after, so I'd look after that so you aren't like I was (hitting refresh constantly). Fingers crossed for you!! Hopefully see you there :)

Good luck. I am wishing you the best :).

That gives me hope! I keep refreshing my email hoping to see an acceptance letter show up. Trying to stay busy in the mean time has been a challenge! Lol

Same here! I was accepted for the ASN program in Crown Point and I haven't received anything about orientation yet either. I too was assuming that all the spots must not be filled yet.

It sure seems like all the spots have been filled since no one that I know have gotten any letters in the second or third round!

If it helps you guys for scheduling purposes, originally when I was accepted to the lafayette school, I was waitlisted. I got my orientation information three-ish days before the actual date. It was done over the phone when the program chair called me. SO, even if the third round emails have gone out, they still have to shuffle around everyone as they accept and decline positions at different schools. The end of of the application process was suuuper messy when they did it for us. It's a ****** thing to say, but more often than not changes to scheduling are often done last minute, so from here on out, flexibility will be SUPER important for everyone!
