Ivy Tech Fall 2017 Hopefuls

Published

Is there anyone else out there, or is it just me? :)

I'd love to connect with others who are applying for the Fall 2017 nursing program.

I am signed up to complete my prerequisites in the spring. English and Public Speaking are already done with an A, from a prior degree with Ivy Tech. They are also going to waive the IVY112 class because I am an Ivy Tech grad.

So I am signed up for APHY101, MATH123, PSYC101, and SOC111.

On one hand, I can't wait for classes to start! On the other hand, with the Holidays, I know the time is going to fly by.

I have the TEAS study guide from Amazon (ATI TEAS Secrets Study Guide: TEAS 6 Complete Study Manual, Full-Length Practice Tests, Review Video Tutorials for the Test of Essential Academic Skills, Sixth Edition: 9781516703838: Medicine & Health Science Books @ Amazon.com) and I am studying it and looking through the first practice test. So far, so good! Lots of info there to cover. Will keep me busy, for sure.

About me: My degree is in Business Administration and my work history is mostly in accounting, but I've been home with our 3 boys for the past 16 years. We have homeschooled for the past seven years. They all went to public school this year, and they are doing GREAT! Now I need a new direction, as well... I've got maybe 30 years of working ahead of me, and I want to have a solid career. I hated being stuck at a desk. Nursing ~ here we go!

They're co-reqs. I figured I would need to drop them.

They will assign your classes & schedule. I couldn't even register for fall classes if I wanted to, since a PIN is required. How did you do that? :)

I went to my advisor when registration opened up a. They have the pin. :D

I was going to say this but didn't see the response in time! Glad you figured it out!! That's what mine did, we discussed a plan then she gave me the pin to go add/drop classes :)

I guess I never discussed an alternate plan with my advisor, because my plan was to get in. It must have been her plan for me, also! Lol. Because she just said, "you won't be able to register for fall classes".

Sorry, I was talking about a situation like hopefulRN who registered for fall classes in case she didn't make it into the fall program.

You will be working on pre-reqs in summer and fall, applying for spring?

Ah! Sorry I misunderstood :)

Well unfortunately after talking with my husband I don't think I'll be able to apply for nursing until 2018 or 2019 :/

Our kids are both under three, we do not live near ANY family (due to my husbands career) AND he works like, 24/7 but also since he is the only one working day care is kind of a far reach for us to afford for both. Unless something changes, I am just hoping to drag out my pre reqs to keep me busy. It was a kick in the stomach to say the least. Being a stay at home mom for almost 3 years now has been SO hard and to imagine more (until they're both or at least ONE is in school ) is really difficult for me to swallow.

Has anyone take A&P 101 or 102 online? I'm considering moving from the on campus one to online but I wasn't sure if that was a good idea. I'm most concerned about it interfering with my retention to just be there 2x a week for 4 hrs at a time

I'm doing 101 in the fall. They warned me they will be sending specimens to my house to dissect, so consider that lol

Hi everyone! I wish I would have found this earlier seeing as there are sooooo many helpful tips.

I was accepted into the ASN program at the Columbus campus with a 143.7 and was so relieved when that email reached my inbox! Hope everyone is enjoying their summer!

I did A&P 101 online and while it was difficult with regards to the test part because there is just so much to know, I didn't think it was as bad as my advisor made it seem. I think as long as you set time to really study and do the reading it's definitely doable.
