Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

Good job, Erin! Sorry to hear about the rumor, that stinks. Still, keep your hopes up, b/c I'm sure you will get in! You've got a good score. :)

On another note, I finished up APHY101 today and made an A!!! Wooohoo! Only the final left in 102 and I only have to make an 80% on it to keep the A....yay! I keep thinking, one down, one to go, then the waiting game REALLY starts.

congrats, tara!

gatlingburg1, yes i have lisa. she's an interesting instructor, but i like her and she gives us a lot of opportunities for extra credit which is always good. my final with her is tomorrow and i'm not worried about it. i finally just finished all of the homework that's due tomorrow, though...

i'm still so worried about getting in, i can't wait until i know.

also - i got an email from ivy tech financial aid the other day saying that i couldn't get financial aid because i had reached the credit limit as an undecided student! this (spring 2010) is only my second semester! and i have a 4.0 - why is this happening? i signed up for 10 credit hours this summer. do i need to drop any?! i'm really freaking out. :crying2:

well i can tell you that i had nursing down as my major and they sent me an email saying i had to change my major because i too had reached my limit, and so i called and did it right over the phone.....i changed to undecided until i can get into the nursing program, but i am not sure if you can change it from undecided to nursing.....call and find out, all they can tell you is no. i do not get financial aid so maybe that is different.

Hello All,

So happy I found this blog...I've been doing a little freaking out since I left work and my husband isn't home (thankfully for him, probably!) for me to decompress it all so I'm writing to you! I applied for the ASN and LPN program in Indy this April...the nerves are getting to me more and more each day as I'm finishing up my last class (APHY101) and then the waiting begins. When I went to the information session last fall they said they had 300 applicants and 203 was their cut-off...a girl I work with said she just went to the information session last week and that they had 500 applicants this April...feeling sooo discouraged!!! Does anyone know what the average cut-off is for the LPN program in Indy? Anyone heard of what they are expecting the cut-off for the ASN to be (I know its crazy competitive, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, and realistically thinking LPN-transitional program). Thanks =))

I took my APHY102 final yesterday and I've definitely got an A in the class. :) Now I've just got Micro, Math, and Ab Psych left - and then a few weeks of nail-biting.

try to keep your head up. these things have a way of working out. i was told at the multiple nursing info sessions i attended that the points cutoff is usually lower in the spring. so, if we have to wait till spring then so be it! also, if this coming fall doesn't work out, apply at multiple campuses as a backup. about another month and we'll have those letters!:D

Welcome JRenihan and congrats Erin!

I'm taking Micro and Math this summer, Erin. Did you take math online?

It's hard to believe that in 26 days (or less...I've been reading on here and some of them came out earlier!) those letters will be sent out!!! It's exciting and nerve-wracking at the same time! I'm stressed out APHY102 since it's whats between me and a 207 score....*le sigh*

I took Math 118 on campus. I'm not very good at math, and I was worried that taking it online would be too hard if I had trouble understanding the concepts. Luckily, Math 118 has been a lot easier than I expected. I probably could have done it online without too much trouble.

I'm taking Technical Writing online this summer, along with an Ivy Tech life skills class, and I'm also taking Intro Chemistry and Public Speaking on campus. So I've got a pretty full schedule!

I loved Micro, but it was definitely my hardest class this semester - harder than A&P 102, even. My instructor has been awesome, but he definitely hasn't made it easy on us.

my husband took math 118 online in half the time, and he said it was the easiest math class he had ever taken. Of course, he is pretty good at math tho.

wow, erin your schedule is packed :uhoh3: atleast tech writing and the ivy skills isn't too bad, i took those online and they were a piece of cake.

i still need to take micro, it's my last co-req. I don't know when I'm going to take it tho...maybe next summer bc I'm thinking that taking it with nursing classes will be too much stress.

I'm not working right now, just going going to school and doing the Mommy thing, so I'm able to dedicate more time to school. My husband's awesome and always watches our son after he gets home at night so I can study and do homework and stuff. I like school and having a full schedule doesn't bother me. I figure I'd better get used to it if I'm going to get into the Nursing program.

When I talked to my adviser the other day when I had to switch my major, I asked him what he thought my chances were of getting in and he totally did not make me feel any better! He said that "historically" my score was right up there, but they had more applicants this year. Uggh! I know that he doesn't know anything about the selection, but I was still kind of hoping that he'd say something to encourage me. I'll be so disappointed if I didn't get into the RN program. I've done so well in all my classes, so I know if I don't get in it will just be because of my lackluster TEAS score. :uhoh3:

bizandgray, if you take Micro at Ivy Tech Lafayette, you'll probably have Dr. R******** - I liked him a lot, like I said his class isn't easy but I've learned a lot and the labs are fun (I think).

yeah, i would definitely wait to take it during the summer. that way all of your focus is on nursing classes. all this waiting is driving me nuts!

OMG, I cannot wait to be waiting for the letters even!!! I keep counting the weeks till the letters MAY be here!! LMAO!! I'm crazy already...

Anyone else applying at the Evansville campus?!!!

I have a 204 and am hoping for RN!!! Not the best score, but not the worst!!!

Oh man, I'm so irritated with myself! I thought I had a couple more days to take the final Chemistry quiz and it was due last night, giving me a zero, which takes my grade down to a B!!!! I emailed the instructor to see if there is any way that I can take it and he can take a certain percentage off, but I haven't heard anything. I've been wrapped up in the A&P haze so I guess that's what I get for not paying more attention to my other classes. It irritates me to think that I got a B b/c of my own inattention....grrrr!

On a better note: I've got an A in A&P 1 and an A in Tech Writing. The final in A&P 2 in saturday and I've been studying for that....
