Ivy Tech: Accepted for Spring 2013
Has anyone applying to the transition program got their letters yet? I can't tell from the 'letter sent-by' dates when we should be expecting ours and I'm getting nervous. Just checking to see if anyone else out there has received theirs.

Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants
Okay, just got my letter, for those wondering about the LPN, I had a 203 and was not accepted, so the cut off must have been right at 204! Good thing I signed up to re-take Anatomy 102 as a back up plan!

Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants
It is 3:12pm and my mail hasn't came yet!! AHHH! I'm gonna go nuts if they don't get here soon, I have to leave for work in an hour!!! Haha! I wonder how many alternates they request? Hmm.... There are two campuses in Indianapolis-only one has the nursing program which is the Lawrence campus =) So when people in nursing refer to 'Indy' they really are talking about the Lawrence campus!

Laura- if only it was that easy! Too bad for the large shortage of nurse educators.

Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants
Hey everyone...haven't posted on here in a while, but thought I would check in and was surprised to see that some people are starting to get letters! My nerves have calmed about everything a lot more lately (been trying to just not think about it all-hints why I haven't been checking the message board! haha!) I also decided to sign up for anatomy 102 this summer as my back up for not getting in to a program this fall...I have 3 A's and one B...and did well on my TEAS, so if I re-take my one Anatomy course and get an A, I should get into the RN program no problem starting in the spring....this helped me a little bit just to have a back up plan and know that its not the end of the world if I don't get in this semester! Deep breaths!!! Does anyone know if you start the LPN program this fall how it works for applying to the transitional program? Could you technically apply to it this January to start right after you graduate the LPN in summer 2011??

IVY TECH LPN admissions
I agree...this waiting game is KILLING me, especially since classes are over now-it would really ease my mind to know scores of past applicants accepted. I applied to both programs in Lawrence. If I don't get in, I will probably apply to more programs next time around, but I'm just praying I can start school in the fall. Also, since I applied to both programs I may get that denial letter from the ASN first...which is going to send me through major anxiety waiting for that final decision about the LPN! Does anyone know how it works when sending out letters: people who applied to multiple campus and select an ASN program at one campus vs the LPN at another and how they go about filling up each program?

I've been trying to figure this out, as well. I applied to the LPN in Lawrence and have no clue what my chances are of getting in to it. If you figure out any past numbers please let me know!

Ivy Tech Columbus Fall 2010 application scores
Not sure about the score thing, I applied to Indy for both the ASN and LPN, realistically looking at getting into the LPN with a 203...letters are mailed out at the end of May for the ASN programs and then once they hear back from people about where they are accepting a spot at, they fill up the LPN and send out letters to them in June, so there are two different times they go out, this however, is all for the Indy campus so you may want to check with your campus because they each have small differences

Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants
Made a stop at the store on my way home from the library for a energy drink to keep me up a little later to study for this APHY101 final tomorrow...ended up with a few goodies too, and am calling it my recipe for success =) Please Lord let me get the 82% I need to keep my 'A'!!! Good luck to everyone who is taking finals this week!!! Anybody know the average score you need to get in the the LPN programs (Indy specifically)??? Erin-If Ivy Tech is like most other schools, acceptance letters usually come in a big envelope (they include lots of info. you need for accepting and the next steps) Tarantor-Which Campus are you applying to?

Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants
Hello All, So happy I found this blog...I've been doing a little freaking out since I left work and my husband isn't home (thankfully for him, probably!) for me to decompress it all so I'm writing to you! I applied for the ASN and LPN program in Indy this April...the nerves are getting to me more and more each day as I'm finishing up my last class (APHY101) and then the waiting begins. When I went to the information session last fall they said they had 300 applicants and 203 was their cut-off...a girl I work with said she just went to the information session last week and that they had 500 applicants this April...feeling sooo discouraged!!! Does anyone know what the average cut-off is for the LPN program in Indy? Anyone heard of what they are expecting the cut-off for the ASN to be (I know its crazy competitive, I'm just keeping my fingers crossed, and realistically thinking LPN-transitional program). Thanks =))

Indianapolis Ivy Tech Nursing Program Advise Needed.
Spider, I have looked into this program since I posted this and am meeting with an adviser next week to discuss applying for Summer 2010. However, I also need a back up plan and Ivy Tech is it. I've heard IUPUI is very competitive and until I meet with someone, I don't really know where I stand right now as far as getting into it. I'm also in no hurry to have my BSN, and since Ivy Tech is much cheaper, going the longer route, getting my CNA and working for a hospital that will pay for my schooling doesn't sound like a bad alternative. Either way, I just want to get into a school and get out to start working as an RN. If there is some big difference in ASN vs BSN as far as bedside nursing, other than it can be more competitive to land a job at a hospital because you are competing against people who have BSNs, that may change my mind. Fingers crossed this meeting goes well next week and they think I am well on my way to getting into IUPUI! Thanks for the advice -J

Any Accelerated BSN at IUPUI Fall applicants?
Just wondering what the current standards are in order to be a competitive applicant for IUPUIs ABSN program. I am looking to apply for the Summer 2010 start. What do they look at besides GPA from your previous Bachelor's? What is the application process like? Thanks for any help!

Indianapolis Ivy Tech Nursing Program Advise Needed.
I have several questions/seeking advise about the Ivy Tech Nursing Program in Indianapolis. I currently have my Bachelor's from IU, but now am looking to get my RN. For cost reason's, I am very interested in Ivy Tech's ASN program and then eventually getting my BSN. I'm wondering/wanting to get some advise from nurses in the Indianapolis area: -What is the job market like in Indianapolis for graduates with an ASN/RN degree in the hospitals? -I know the ASN program is very competitive and have been encouraged by the school to also apply to the LPN program and after completing this could do LPN-ASN, has anyone done this route or have any advise about this back up plan? -I am thinking about taking the CNA course at Ivy Tech and working as a CNA until classes begin/while in school. Does anyone have any advise on what hospitals, organizations, etc. to work for after this that may assist in paying for getting my RN (either directly with the ASN program or the LPN-ASN route). I have heard that some hospitals will pay for part/all of your tuition if you sign a contract with them, but I'm not sure how that is going with the economy. -Once you have your ASN, where in the Indi area can these credits transfer to get your BSN? Do many hospitals have RN-BSN programs? -Anyone know hospitals that may help pay for the CNA course or how to go about getting someone to pay for it? I know nursing homes often will offer classes and paid training, but I would really prefer to be in a hospital setting. Thanks for you help.

Marian University for St. Vincent?
I went to the information session for this program as I am also planning to get my BSN and already have another Bachelor's. The program seems legit, the only issue I had with it is the cost. Since I already have my Bachelor's there is little financial aid available to me other than loans. I already took out plenty of loans for my first degree, so taking out more really isn't an option. The BSN program at Marian is 4 semesters, at $12,500 a semester, so I am looking into cheaper options. Just something to think about. I do have a friend who is currently in the program and she really likes it. They just started this program, so I am sure there are some kinks to work out. I'm sure if you contacted the school they may be able to get you in touch with a current student who would be able to tell you more about their experience.
