  1. When I went to visit with them, it did seem like they had a little lengthy list of pre-reqs, but they were really trying to get me on a plan to get them all done. I figure, I can go to Ivy Tech to finish many if not all of them and have it be cheaper, but then get in quicker. If I have to do two or three for another program and have a less of a chance to get it, I guess I'll take spending a little extra cash and the almost guaranteed acceptance. As far as the quality of the school, I know that this is a new program, but the school always has had a great reputation. I had some friends that went through the traditional program, and they loved it. Of course, they said it was really challenging, but who would want an easy program when you have to go into the craziness of the RN world when you graduate??? I believe that if you apply for the May class, you are generally notified within a few weeks after the deadline? At least, that's what I would guess it is. It does seem a little expensive, and I have to take some pre-req's, but I figure if I can get in there 6-9 months before I would start another program, I would make that money up (plus more, probably) in my first 6-9 months of employment after I graduate. Seems like a wash, if not a positive gain, after all is considered.
  2. Just a comment on the Marian posts here. I met with an admissions counselor from there a few weeks ago. If you want to get in the SPring class, there are still spots, I think. I would give them a call, because i have talked to several schools, and with each, some rules can be flexible. If they have a few spots left, maybe they'll let some classes count that didn't? I would go to the website (http://www.marian.edu/stv) and give them a call. what can it hurt?
  3. Hello! I have looked into Marian University's program, and met with one of their admissions counselors. It seems like a good program, the online part looks pretty cool. It is more expensive than some other programs, but I really just want to get in somewhere. I think I am going to apply there for their May (?) start.
  4. I have also heard that IUPUI is very tough to get in to. If they really only accept people with an over 3.77 GPA, that would be pretty dang hard! Does anyone know how their program ranks with others in the area? I have looked at U of Indianapolis and Marian University. Marian has a new online porgram that I looked at that has no waiting lists and your GPA doesn't have to be as high as IUPUI i think. Just wondering how they might compare, because I am definitely going to apply to both next time, because IUPUI seems so hard to get in to.
  5. I had an appointment with a girl there too. I am working on my pre-reqs right now. It seems like a great option to me! I just want to get in a school and start as quickly as I can!!!
  6. hello there everyone! newbie on the threads here! so, i am thinking of getting my bsn, and i already have a bachelors degree[/url] so naturally, the absn programs around indianapolis draw me. i went in to see marian university for st. vincent health last week for an appointment to talk about my transcripts and stuff. does anyone know anything about this program? it seemed like there were some good things about it, but i figured i would check with some other people that may have heard about it or even talked to them? they said it is done online and the clinicals are done for st. vincent health hospitals, which is awesome, because i know that they have a good reputation in the city. and i guess it woudl be good to have the opportunity to be able to do my homework after i come home from broad ripple if it came down to it (even though i might not do so well on it lol) :-) i also was looking around on here for similar programs that have that online-and-hospital format, and saw there are some programs in california (which is actually university of oklahoma, weird) and people like them. also, they said they have no waiting lists! from the other programs i have been looking in to, if you aren't a valedictorian, it is super hard to get in. no waiting lists is great for me because i want to start as quickly as i can! so, if anyone has heard anything, or knows anything about the program, please reply! i am ready to get started on becoming a nurse! thanks! if you want to check out the website for this program, it's www.marian.edu/stv most of the information about it is on there.
  7. Sorry, forgot this, but if anyone hasn't seen it, the website is http://www.marian.edu/stv
