  1. Hey guys! How's everyone doing? First week of clinicals down and everyone is still alive, woohoo!! I hope you guys are all doing well! Tara
  2. Thanks, Erin! You're lucky to be able to lose the weight so quickly. I had no problems until after my third child and I ballooned! I lost quite a bit of it, then became pregnant the last time. I didn't get back up to my highest weight, but I was still about 30lbs over what I consider my ideal weight. lol I'm a little less excited about getting M in pants since I found out they run so big. LOL, I figured that they had to run a little big, especially in the shirts, but they are essentially a size bigger than what I wear in jeans! But, they are comfy....
  3. Thanks, MistyMiss! I finished up all of my coreqs this semester and we don't have summer classes (unfortunately), so I'm looking forward to a free summer in 2011, woohoo! I'm as excited as I am nervous about the nursing courses and I've emailed a couple of my instructors to see if it's possible to get a syllabus so I can get a head start. I haven't heard anything and then I realized, uh, DUH, it's summer and many teachers/students take that time off! Darn, though! Woohoo, that's awesome, Erika! It's amazing how much children change your body. I gained so much weight in the past few years and I've had a hard time losing it, yet here in the past 4 months I've lost over 20 lbs and I only have 12 more to go until I'm at my pre-3rd baby weight! Stress has contributed, as has running my children to and fro this summer, but I also gave up the glass of wine that I would drink a night or two a week and I think that's what has contributed the most. No more alcoholic beverages for me! I also have psoriasis and it's cleared up so much that its barely noticeable! I don't know if that's due to the time of year (it apparently gets better in summer - this is my first year having it so I'm not sure), eating/drinking better, or what, but I like it, whatever it is!
  4. We have green elastic waist pants (I was pretty stoked to get a M, lol, I haven't worn a M in about 15 years!) and a white smock/tunic type shirt with green trim. It's not too terrible, at least the pants are longish and fit well, so I shouldn't complain that I've had 4 babies and NOTHING elastic looks good on my stomach, right? ;-) The jacket was the worst looking thing about it, but, honestly, its not that bad. I'm glad I don't have to wear a vest or something. LOL
  5. They had us go try the uniform on to see what size we wore and they are making them, that's why they won't be ready until around mid-August. I was really hoping for drawstring pants, but no....they had to be elastic. ;-) The Med/Surg book scares me! I flipped through it, scanned a few pages, and decided that I would wait a bit before reading any more. I haven't opened the pharmacology book yet lol. I don't have any of my other books. The bookstore didn't have them and they are backordered online. Yay. *EDIT - Well, I dunno if they're 'making' them, but they're doing something with them. LOL
  6. Congrats to all of those who have recently gotten into the program! Things have been crazy here with 4 classes and 4 kids! I've got all of my stuff done and I'm waiting on a couple books that are backordered and my uniform that will be ready sometime in august. How's everyone else?
  7. yeah, they are called 'clogs' but the back is closed so they work. i was really glad to find a pair that felt so good b/c i was worried! i received the background check and drug screen info in the mail today. looks like tomorrow will be another busy day! how's everyone else doing?
  8. I bought Landau Comfort shoes and they feel wonderful on my feet. I walked around the store with one on one foot and a Nursemate on the other and still loved the Landau. They aren't pretty, but they aren't terrible either. Honestly, if they were a little better looking, I'd wear them every day, that's how good they feel. lol Oh and I had to buy a smaller size than I usually wear. I haven't received the info for the background check and drug screen yet. We're suppose to receive it in the mail sometime this month. We had to have all of our stuff finished (shots, physical, cpr) before we could make an appt with the advisor and set up our schedules. You guys who received yours before hand are lucky! ;-) Here's a link to the shoes. Landau Comfort
  9. I received my schedule today, woohoo! All that's left is the whole nursing program orientation in August, a uniform fitting this month, and to buy a stethoscope and penlight. I bought shoes and they are amazing! How's everyone else doing?
  10. Congrats, Ericka! I'm very happy for you!!!!
  11. Congrats to everyone who made it in. I haven't been on here much. This summer session is kicking my butt! I've also been getting all my nursing paperwork and I have an appointment with my advisor to set up my schedule and stuff. That's on Wednesday and I'm soooo excited!!!!! How's everyone else doing?
  12. You guys should apply in the spring. There are less applicants therefore the scores are lower. I'm really, really surprised at how high the scores are this semester!
  13. So, what all will we need to have/get done? There wasn't a list or anything with my letter, so I'm not completely sure. I have an idea, after reading other posts and speaking with another student, but I want to make sure. 1. TB skin test - 1 or 2? 2. Immunizations - I'm pretty sure I'll need a tetorifice booster and I have MMR and Hep B. Are there any others that will be needed? I asked in the nursing info session about chicken pox and she said there was something we could sign saying that we'd had it... 3. Background check/Physical/Drug Screen - after orientation 4. What else?
  14. Congrats to those who received their acceptance letters today!!! :yeah::yelclap::stdnrsrck:
  15. Madison's letters were sent out? I have a friend who applied there and as far as I know, she's not received anything. She had a 215...
