Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

Ugh 39/50 on my lab :( I didn't realize I missed that many! I have SEVEN points to work with now to keep an A. Meaning I have like 240 points possible remaining in the course and can ONLY miss 7 :( Blah. I feel this slipping away.

Okay, so does anyone know what all we will need to do before the fall....like what type of medical records do we need, what shots, do we need to be CPR certified and if so by who? (red cross)? I would like to get a head start on these things if anyone knows the answers!! Thanks!!! :D

I don't know if the requirements are the same at every campus or not. But at Indy, you had to take Healthcare Provider level CPR approved by the American Heart Association. They don't care where you take the class.

For shots, you had to show proof of two MMRs (or titer), 2-step TB test, at least start the 3-shot Hep B Series, chicken pox vaccine or titer or provider signature of proof of having had the disease; drug screen that they told us which lab to go to; background check that they told us what website to register at; I think that was it. Besides a dr. signature for a physical.

Quick question guys: What if you get accepted into the nursing program at one ITcampus and have to move after a semester? Would I have to reapply to another IT campus or would I just apply for a transfer? My husband and I are talking about moving maybe at the beginning of 2011 or next summer, so I was curious as to whether anyone knew anything about this.

Thanks!

Based on the limited class/clinical availability in these programs, I would guess that if you had already started classes here and then moved, you would have to wait for a spot to open up at the other campus in order to stay in the program. Otherwise, they might just make you re-apply and start with a new semester of students. I'm really not sure though, so I'd definitely recommend calling the nursing office to find out. You'd also want to call the office of whatever campus you think you'd transfer to, as many campuses have different "rules" about how this is done. Good luck!!

I am officially freaking out!

My friend went to the final information session on 3-31 at the South Bend campus, and evidently the instructor conducting the session said that there were already 450 applications turned in (and they only accept 50 students)!!!

My confidence levels have now dropped even more. Does anyone else know if these South Bend numbers are accurate? Has anyone heard of the number of applicants at the other campuses?

If there is anyone reading this that is already in the nursing program, could you please let me know which program you got into and what your points were when you got in? I applied at Columbus, Lafayette, Lawrence, and Anderson. I'm trying to get a feel for where I stand on getting in. And I'm sure other people are wanting to get an idea of where they stand also.

Thanks!

Lawrence: 210 pts: ASN

AnneMarie - Thanks so much for the reply and I will do that. ;-) It would stink to reapply and maybe have to take classes all over again. I wouldn't think they would make someone do that, though. I guess?

L7 - I haven't heard ANYTHING from my campus, except the scores for a couple of other applicants. It's frustrating because I have absolutely no idea if my grade will cut it or not (darn those 3 region pts again! I would feel much more comfortable with a 210!). At least you are hearing something, though I hope its conjecture. 450 applicants, wow! You've gotta keep your head up and think happy thoughts. ;-) Good luck! Only approximately 7 weeks (49 days) to go until we find out something!

I applied at the valparaiso campus and according to my friend who just attended the nursing session, the approx. cutoff is looking like it's gonna be 205 for the fall semester. This came out of the mouths of the 3 faculty that do the selecting so I have my fingers crossed that it stays there:lol2:. I have all my preq's taken for the whole degree and have very little to work with at this point, it turns into a "how much can I possibly tack on to my school loan before I graduate"

Dork9802, I really hope you get in. I'm in the same spot as you. I've taken all of my pre- and co-reqs as well as some classes I'll be able to transfer to IUPUI and have them applied to the classes I need for the bachelor's program. I've been told that the cutoff for starting in the Fall is almost always higher than if you apply to start in the Spring. I'm staying positive that I won't need to worry about getting in for the Spring semester, because I'm getting in for the Fall. Within a couple months we should all know!!

Does anybody have any information on the Evansville cut off scores? What they were last fall or anything??? Thanks for any info!
