Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

Im scheduled to take my TEAS this coming Tuesday. Im super nervous! Wish me luck, please!

sooo...how'd you do? i hope good! :) I'm taking mine this tuesday :uhoh3: how was it??

Tara-

congrats on the A!! I just took my first test last night in Anatomy and Physiology 102 since we had a snow day last Tuesday. I can't wait to see my results!!! I get a little antsy not knowing what I got.

I took my TEAS test this past Friday and without much studying recieved a 83%. I am planning on retaking it in March. Does anyone know what TEAS score I should be aiming towards? I'm kind of worried!

I had to reschedule for this Friday. My husband's father has cancer and he (my husband) went with him for the chemo treatment. They had planned to do it a few weeks ago, but no one ever told me the exact date. So, I have a few extra days of studying yay!

An 83% is good, karateka! I'm pretty sure that most people strive to get an 85% or above. If you have an A in all your prereqs, that would give you a 203 which is awesome! Congrats!

I'm sure you did well on your exam. We graded our lecture exams and she missed one that I had marked correct so that brought me up to a 94. However, I didn't do so well on the lab exam; I made an 80...ugh! I still have an A, but I have to do better than that!~

Thanks for the congrats!!

Tara- thanks I appreciate it! I'm sorry to hear about why you had to reschedule your test.

I just remember that at the Indy nursing information session that I had attended that I wrote in my notes I took that I had to get an 87% to get into the Indy nursing program--or at least that was the cut off then. Yes, I have all A's on the other prereqs..and hopefully I'll get an A in Anatomy 102--I so understand the stress and how you HAVE to do better---I am constantly on myself about that!

(Butting in LOL). . . karateka, I heard at a nursing info meeting for Indy last August that the historical average on the TEAS for those getting into the ASN program has been about an 87. Your 83 is awesome esp since you didn't really even study, but if you have the time, of course it can't hurt to try it again to get a higher score!

Awesome job on the 83 Teas score karateka! I've only taken it once, but I was seriously discouraged on how hard it was. I only received a 78. I'm taking it again next week and hoping to score much higher. Indianapolis is exceptionally hard to get into so I would definitely retake it as many times as you possibly can. My Anatomy 102 class starts in 2 weeks. I'm a bit overwhelmed, but yet anxious to get it done and over with.

Kgle--would you mind forwarding me that PDF?? I took the Teas recently and scored horribly. I'm looking for anything and everything to help me out.

Thanks!!!

csab-I thought that is what I heard as well--I was at the info session in August too at the Lawrence campus--and I looked through my notes and noticed I had scribbled "must get over 87 on TEAS and 4 A's on prereqs" I was disappointed in the score--but I guess I can't be too upset with not much studying--I originally was freaking out and studying crazy and then I just had to tell myself to relax and just see how I do...I'm applying at Indy, Anderson and Kokomo. (I really am NOT liking having to go to each info session--my bosses are going to get upset I keep asking off)

DLC--I know--I was shocked how hard the SCIENCE portion was--that was my worst section. I didn't even think to study--but I kinda goofed up my punctuation too...crazy! I know Indy seems very hard to get in to...but that's why I'm going to apply to as many campuses as I can and pray that I get in one...yay for anatomy 102..I'm in it right now...and I can't wait to be done either! I can only retake the TEAS once more before the applications are due--so I am going to have to buckle down and study very hard to get that 89-91 I am wanting to get. Good luck on your retake! :)

karateka817 - I applied to Lawrence with 4 As and and a 90 on the TEAS (out of region though, so it would be like applying *in region* with an 87) and was accepted for Fall of 2009. I declined though and go to the Bloomington campus since it's only a few minutes away from my house.

Lennonninja--thanks for the information that helps me as well so I know what I need to be aiming for! And dang-- a 90!! Wow did you study a lot? What study guides or books did you use if you did? That's great!!

karateka817 - I was lucky enough to get the same version of the TEAS both times I took it. I knew that this was a possibility, so as soon as I finished it the first time, I wrote down all of the things that I didn't know (like certain words from the spelling section) and then I worked on those particular things. I did tons of math practice worksheets too. The only study guide I used was the TEAS one that I got from the Bloomington Ivy Tech bookstore. I think it was made by ATI.

Good luck on your next try! :)
