Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

I have no idea what's needed, DLC, sorry. :-(

How is everyone? I know its a little early, but I was thinking about things we will need for nursing classes, specifically, a watch. I have a bit of trouble wearing them. Generally, between 3 and 7 days of getting one and wearing it regularly (with two weeks being the longest amount of time, ever), it will stop working. I've had this problem since I was a little girl and I'm worried about having to buy a new watch constantly, lol.

It may seem silly, but its a genuine concern. Any suggestions?

I have the same issue. I used clear nail polish to cover the part of the metal on the watch that touches my skin. This seems to have helped. I've also worn a long sleeved shirt under my scrub shirt and placed the watch on the shirt material so that the watch didn't touch my skin. Hope this helps.

kitkat, thanks so much! Those are great ideas! :-)

Ahh spring semester has officially begun! I am actually looking forward to being back at it again...I must be going crazy because I even thought about adding a 5th class! Then I came to my senses.

Totally thought Dosage Calc was in March, but it starts Tuesday. Uggh need to start studying for the TEAS asap so I can take it this month Or at least at the beginning of February.

I'm starting to get so nervous about applying. I know at the least I will end up in LPN but I don't want to :( I've decided that if for some reason I don't get into either, I will work on my BSW...and then do nursing down the road...but hopefully I don't have to worry about that!

Anyway...hope everyone has a great start to the semester!

Kgle, I thought about adding a 5th class, too, and did it! I don't know what I was thinking, but at least it gets it out of the way.

Today was my first class for f2f aphy102 and it was nice. The teacher gave a lot of information (including stuff from 101 which helped me understand things more) and we got to look over the models of the heart. I enjoyed it and wish that I had taken 101 f2f, too. Online is preferable and more convenient with my boatload of kiddos (lol), but I think that I will do much better in 102 than I did in 101.

I'm nervous about applying, too. I figure that I will probably get into the LPN program, no matter what, but (like you kgle), I don't want to. However, if it goes that way, I'll be okay. At least I'm getting my classes in.

How's everyone doing so far this semester? What do you think of your classes? What are you taking?

I have:

APHY 101 (online)

APHY 102 (f2f)

Tech Writing (online)

CHEM 101 (online)

Adv. Insurance Claims Processing (as my backup lol) (online)

Haha Tara (I hope that's your name...I kinda assumed! lol)! I probably could have gotten away with another online course...but the only other classes I need are Psych, Chem, and Micro. I guess I could have easily done Psych online but decided against it!

Right now I am doing:

Dosage Calc

APHY 101

Technical Writing

CNA prep (in March)

I have a good feeling that I will get an easy A out of APHY since I've already taken it before and its kind of like review for me. Dosage Calc is probably going to be pretty simple too. It's weird to only have one online class this semester! I normally only take one face to face with the rest online!

I need to start looking into what other campuses I want to apply to. My parents are awesome...my dad's gf knows the director at the Montessori school right down the street and she is cutting us a deal for $500 a month for full time! I'll be paying what I normally do for daycare and my parents are splitting the rest of the difference :) It will really help out to do that since its on the way to classes, wherever they end up. Right now, I am driving from the northside to the west side to Lawrence all the time! Waste of gas!

Anyway...I already went to a nursing info session at Anderson...I'm doing the Lawrence one again next week I believe, so I just need to figure out where else!

Emmi- craziness...but my friend just had her financial aid terminated just like yours was! All because she didn't drop a class last semester before the 100% mark. I cannot believe that the school just isn't notifying anyone!

hey guys...i'm new to the boards :) I'll be applying for this upcoming fall too!

classes i'm taking this semester:

aphy 102 (f2f)

med. terminology (online)

love romance and relationships (online)

drugs and human behavior (online)

lol i know it may seem i am taking a bunch of wacky classes...but that's because I didn't have anything else to take besides aphy 102!

oh and my aphy 102 class is ALL exam based (5 exams and 1 final)...is your guys' that way? I'm kinda nervous that I won't have the cushion of the quizzes and hw, but I'm sure I'll be ok ;)

Welcome bizandgray!

I know what you mean about the wacky classes...and I was actually going to take the love and relationships course at some point to fill up my schedule! Let me know how you like it!

My 102 class had 3 quizzes, homework due every week in lab, then 6 exams and an optional cumulative final for lecture and lab.

Good luck! Which campus do you go to?

thanks kgle :)

I go to the Lafayette campus. I have no clue about how competitive it is. What campus do you attend?

Well I got my appeal approved...but only for 6 credit hours. So I am retaking APHY 101 and also taking MATH 118. Next semester I will take APHY 102 and the CNA Prep and then HOPEFULLY will be applying to the LPN and RN program for Spring 2011...I'm thinking about other campuses but I am just not sure yet.

Oh I didn't read here first that you are not applying until Spring 11 now (I replied to you on that other thread about CNA class). I think it would be hard to take anything on top of Aphy 102 in the summer!

Ahh...well then maybe I won't. I forgot you did 102 in the summer didn't you? Ok I will take your advice. I might wait until Fall then because I do want to get my CNA even if it won't cut out Pharm. I have never done anything in the medical field so I figured it wouldn't hurt, plus my unemployment insurance won't last forever!
