Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....
Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?
I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.
And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!
((((Emmi)))) I'm so sorry, that just doesn't make any sense. How can they totally terminate financial aid without ever telling a person they are at risk of that? It makes zero sense. Not that that helps you any to say it, but sheesh, that is crazy. I hope you can get some help by going in in person.
Congrats Taranator!
*Update*
I went in to Ivy Tech today and spoke with financial aid. So when I went to Ivy Tech in Spring 2006 I was taking 5 classes, I withdrew from 2 and failed the other 3...now I have retaken the 3 I failed and passed. But because I have "attempted" a total of 25 credit hours and have only successfully completed less than half or something like that my completion rate is below the 67%. Which would have been fine had I been told this would happen or even notified once it did. If I was told prior then I could have completed this appeal process weeks ago and not had to stress about whether or not I will receive aid for next semester.
I had to complete an appeal form, type a one page response as to why it should be reinstated, meet with an academic advisor for them to sign off on the request, and then submit the appeal, my unofficial transcript, and my one page letter to financial aid. The appeal can take up to 20 BUSINESS days to process and if it is not done by the time classes start I will either have to pay for them out of pocket or drop them. Which with Ivy Tech I know it won't be done in time. So I may drop some of my classes and try to take at least one or two...depending on if I can get a loan from someone in order to pay for the courses.
I'm sorry for everything you're having to go through, Emmi. I don't really have anything useful to say, but I hope that they get everything sorted out before classes start. I would stay in contact with the advisor who helped you.
I had a friend at school in Kentucky that was in a similar situation. I'm not sure of all the details, but I do know that she wasn't aware that she was on probation either, and then she got kicked out. I think they said they sent her a letter in the mail. Granted, that school was a lot larger than Ivy Tech, but you would think they could at least send you an e-mail or put an alert at the top of your account, or something a little more attention grabbing. They do put most of that information in the bulletin, but how many people were actually ever given a bulletin or even directed to where to find one?
I'm with everyone else, I don't understand why they would kick you out given your situation.
Hopefully everything will work out.
Congrats, Tara, on APHY, and good luck next semester!
Yeah the only place I can find it located is under something like Academic Progress or something like that...but I did not think I needed to check that. There was nothing in "Financial Aid Messages" nothing under "Holds" and when you go in to view your loans and grants everything is there just like it was for Fall semester...so I feel like why would I think to check something about academic progress when I checked my grades and they were fine? I don't know I guess it is my fault for not clicking on every single link underneath the financial aid tab, but again I think they would officially notify you in some way.
I will also be applying to Ivy Tech next fall, so I just wanted to say 'hello'. Also, I wanted to see if anyone knows which version of the TEAS Ivy Tech uses? 2.0 or 3.0/4.0 The ATI website specifically states that there is a difference between the two, so I didn't want to study from the wrong book. I tried calling the nursing office and of course no one is available to help! Thanks for any information.

***...if you were on probation this semester and completed with a 4.0 how are they saying you lost it?!
*hugs* it will work out!! There are many other programs out there, they just might be a little more expensive. But you can do it! I do hope you get to stay with us though :)
