Ivy Tech 'Fall 2010' Applicants

Published

Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....

Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?

I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.

And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!

I am on the phone with the Registrar's Office now...917-5954. Ok well I just got off. She said it had already been done...well then why would my GPA be so low if for this term I have a 4.0 well so far until AnP gets on there, lol??

Well I am glad that I called Ivy Tech today...apparently my financial aid has been terminated. I had no idea. All from when I attended at 18 and was not ready to be in school with a new baby and full time job, I couldn't handle it and failed 3 classes and withdrew from 2 and now my completion rate is not good enough and of course if I file an appeal it won't be done in time for next semester.

Oh no! That sucks, Emmi! What are you going to do?

What?!? And they didn't inform you of this maybe at the beginning of the school year?? Wouldn't they just put you on probation? My friend has like a 1.4 GPA or something like that and she is just on probation.

Man I hope it gets worked out for you :(

I have no idea. I guess I just won't be going to school. I can't make payment arrangements--I got laid off in August and have 2 kids and the same amount of bills as previous to the lay off. I am just so screwed it makes no sense. I have tried so hard to do right this semester and I am screwed! I don't understand why I would not be notified prior to this. I mean I guess it was in campus connect if you went to the right place but I never thought to do that.

I guess it has nothing to do with my GPA it is all my completion rate. You have to be at 67% I don't know I am so confused and upset right now. I don't know why they would not tell me! All the times I have been to speak with academic advising etc.

So, why did you get it this semester if you've had problems? I'm confused. It makes no sense that they didnt tell you this stuff before.

My GPA for this term is 4.0 and my cumulative GPA is like 2.1 something. This was my 1st semester back since that one semester from 2006 and everything went through fine this time, but apparently I was on probation. You would think they would explain all this to a person.

I promise between the "baby blues" I have gone through this past week and a four year old, then Christmas worries, now I can't go to school. If I make it through this I swear there will be nothing I can't get through! I am going to be a nurse somehow some way. Maybe I should just forget Ivy Tech and go to Kaplan or somewhere...I don't know!

Congrats on your GPA for this term! You would think that would add into your completion rate and still give you financial aid. Wow, I can't believe they didn't tell you all this already. I'm so sorry! Have you talked to your advisor or anyone else?

I know...but GPA has to do with completion rate too since its a reflection of completion. That's so messed up that they didn't talk to you about it. Wouldn't the crap ton of classes make up and bring you to 67%? Definitely go in and talk to someone. Thats so sucky :(

No I am going to try to go up there today but with a 4 year old and a 1 week old baby I am not looking forward to sitting there and waiting forever!

I just don't understand how this happened and I did not get a letter or an email or anything!
