Hi everyone! I wanted to start a thread for those of us planning on applying by April 1st....
Has anyone taken the TEAS yet? Where are you with your pre-reqs? What campus are you applying to?
I am planning on taking the TEAS in December, so I have enough time to retake it :) and this is my first semester at Ivy Tech. I'm taking APHY 101, ENGL 111, and PSYC 101 all this semester and I will complete APHY 102 next semester. I am planning on applying to Indy.
And good luck to all the Spring 2010 applicants! :yeah:Hope everyone gets in!!!
I didn't even know that we could take Pharm now!
It's through a different program, but it's online and I wanted to take it. I don't know if I will if I have to retake it for the nursing program, BUT, it also might make things a little easier and give me a heads up. Who knows?
Alright, I'm getting ready to do the lab and lab quiz for Chapter 8...wish me luck!
Tara-
I wish I was lucky enough to be able to write papers. I dread it!! That is why I know I am going to end up having to retake ENGL 111. Which is so silly, but I just can't find motivation to sit and write a paper:(
I am definitely excited to take the CNA prep since I have NO medical background I am eager to be get certified and begin working even if it isn't in the field I ultimately want to go in, although you never know what you are going to like until you try it.
Tara-
I went to one back in July but I'm planning on going to another one closer to the application time. I actually didn't find out any new information...mainly because I stalked this site in advance:) and read the information packet online. Throughout the entire nursing session people kept asking personal situation questions, when they clearly said SAVE your questions!
Yeah Emmi that is a problem with the info sessions, people asking questions very specific to their personal situation. The last one I went to, the admissions rep and the career services rep were talking for well over an hour.
That said, it is a good idea to go to a session near when you will be applying because you never know what might be new/different. Like, at the session MistyMiss and I went to in late August, they said (at Indy) that at least one summer would be mandatory. Other ladies who got into the program for spring that are in my aphy 201 class had no idea about that new development because they hadn't gone to a recent session. I have a feeling lots of people are going to be surprised about that at our orientation on Tuesday.
Hmm summers mandatory? Well even one..I wonder how that will work with financial aid? There is no way I could afford to pay for extra classes over the summer out of pocket!
I am going to the November info session with a friend of mine. If anyone's going, feel free to meet up with us :)
Got a B on lab. Very excited. If I can manage to get As on the rest of my tests and cumulatives then I should be able to get an A in the class.

According to a friend of mine, Chem101 with this certain teacher is pretty easy, no discussion boards, etc, so I can probably pull that with no problem (she took it during the summer with aphy101). Tech Writing should be easy for me because I can churn out papers in a couple hours and I'm used to writing professional emails, filling out documentation, etc. I'm also not that worried about dosage calculation, but I want to check about pharmacology. If I have to retake it, what's the point, ya know?
I think it's awesome that you and kgle are taking the CNA prep class. I thought about that, but decided against it. I prefer online courses, since it works better with my schedule (and my husband's work schedule) so going to a f2f class is kind of difficult. He's been talking to his boss about going to third shift when (positive thinking!) I get into the nursing program, which will work better for us but will still stink because I will miss having him home at night. :-(
Are you guys excited about your class?
