I'm so ashamed of myself until I don't know what to do sometimes! I'm now 30 years old and have taken the NCLEX 8 times since 2004. I need some kind of inspirational help or something because this test has taken me to the pits of hell. Some of you will never know how I feel at work when I get ordered around by some new grad nurse to do tech work. I take my boards again on March the 10th, but I haven't studied for it. I have to take it now because my ATT expires Monday. I joined this because I need someone to talk to or something because i'm tired. I'm tired of lying to folks about when I got out of school, i'm tired of lying that i'm studying for it, i'm tired of just lying to myself completely. I constantly get complimented on how i'm such a great worker and employee, but that's only as a tech. I graduated with honors from high school and college and this is what my life has now come to?! My boards have held me hostage for the past 8 years and i'm so tired of it! It took everything out of my soul to admit how many times I failed this test. So if somebody wants to make a mockery of me, do as you must. But I need some type of inspiration or last second advice on how to at least just try my best when I take this test Saturday. And this is my last time taking it, PASS OR FAIL!
First off let me say I feel your pain and admire your courage. It is not an easy test anyone could fail. No one on this site could take the nclex 8 times in a row and pass it. Sometimes in life we go through road blocks but wats important is that you never give up. If in your heart you truly want to be s nurse then take it 20 times if you have but just know nothing happens before your time. It is time to start fresh and block out all your past failure and come up with a new game plan.
Back when I was a kid I was in the church choir. Ole bobby, a pal of mine was too. Bobby loved to sing and he sang loud. He thought he had the most melodious voice ever. Everyone felt for Bobby and praised him and told him what a wonderful voice he had. He ate up the praise and sang louder and bolder than ever while all within a 500 ft radius cringed.....
People were afraid to tell Bobby the truth. They were afraid they would hurt his feelings. They did him an injustice.
I will not do the same for you. The pure heartless statistics say that your probability of passing is virtually nil. My take is that you have been coddled and people have not been honest with you. It seems that you have an overinflated opinion of yourself.
As others have eluded to . the fact that you have not studied just blows my freakin mind? Seriously?
Here is the honest truth. It is time to look at other career choices. Sorry.
I'm sorry to say, but if you've really taken this test 8 times and failed and your on this board looking for inspiration we can't help much. Inspiration from us isn't helping you. I think you need to get off the computer and go to church because, and I mean this in the nicest way, it's going to take miracles or divine intervention to help someone pass who graduated years ago and failed 8 times. I'm talking walking on water or red sea parting type miracles. Now that I've got that off my chest... Good luck to you. I wish you success. P.s. when you get your new ATT, take a Kaplan or hurst review.
You need to analyze what went wrong the last 7 or 8 times you took this test. The test is challenging and tricky but after failing it that many times, I think you are not analyzing enough what went wrong the last times. I would think you are doing the same mistakes over and over without learning from them. Do you have a close RN friend who could review your learning strategies?
There are students who just get "test anxiety". I would seriously look into finding a good hypnotherapist, it's not a joke nor a put down to you.
Check out this place, if you're not from CA, google for one in your area but see if they could use a test student and you can be a test subject for free or at a discount. I just happen to notice the firm below is accredited by the CA BON.
Hypnosis Training College - Hypnotherapy Certification - Hypnosis Motivation Institute
You owe it to yourself to help find the issues that's preventing you from passing the NCLEX, if it's not due to the lack of studying hard enough.
Others have discreetly mentioned maybe it's just not your cup of tea, but wait till you can explore some other options to assist in your situation.
Good luck!
All nursing certifications are the same. You are not suppose to answer how you would like to answer. Your answers are how you would answer in a perfect world. I have found that nursing students that have worked a long time at the bedside do better in school but worse on the NCLEX. When studying for any nursing standardized test (PCCN, CCRN, ect...) study the fundamentals do not rely on what you learned at work... Hope this helps
I dunno what to say. But if I were you, I will take it this sat and try your best to pass. And pray hard to Him to give it to you this time. And if you still fail, study like you were in 1st yr of nursing, like you were still a student before you retake. I bet you will do best since you were an A-student. Best of luck to you. And pray pray pray. :) God bless you.

Go for it, its better than losing money, give it another shot, you have nothing to lose. keep trying till you pass it and dont worry about negative comments, Nclex does not determine what type of nurse you will be how how you will perform as a nurse.
all the best you can do it
