So here we are again, halfway through another long semester. I am currently taking A&P II with the lab, Micro, and Nutrition. (those are the last of my pre-reqs) I think I will be at a 3.4 all cum when this is all said and done. Currently I have a 3.39 and even if I get starights A's again, I don't think it will bump my GPA much higher than a 3.4something.
Anyone ready to turn in their application for the May 1st deadline?! I am going to turn mine in, knowing that 3.6 is the cut off, however....maybe I have a fighting chance!?
Anyone else have the GPA blues? btw, in other schools/programs, a 3.4 is not bad at all!
I got into Barry, but who can afford Barry! They already want $225

If you got into Barry--- I've heard of a couple of people that went to miami dade and said "hey, look, I got into this nursing school, and I haven't received an acceptace from MDC, I rejected barry to come here" and then two days later they get into MDC.
I got into Nova, BCC & Manatee >-- but I didnt do that because I was too bitter that MDC didn't want me, so I don't want them either.
Ive heard that BC has gotten really, really difficult? I was told that from day 1 you cant work, and that they also try and weed out many students to open more seats..any truth to any of this? Ive been really leaning towards dade..well, i guess because I have done all of my pre reqs there...however, Im hearing that mdc is impossibleto get into..(since they go by all cum gpa) and that BC is easier to get in...but hard to finish? lol any truth to these rumors bumblebee?

Is the 3.6 cut off for MDC for regular or accelerated? Hmm.... that is tough. I am hoping to get in to MDC or FAU accelerated for 2010 - does anyone know which is typically "easier" to get into?
3.6 was the cut off of the generic...i dont know anything about the AO because i dont have a bachelors degree....thats a good question though. you should try calling medical campus advicement and asking... and thanks hirbow! i hope you get in as well....i wish they wouldn't go by the all cum gpa. i have straights A's and one B (chem lab) for my sciences...crazy huh!

I think with a 3.39 you have a chance of getting into the Generic.
From my personal experience, I believe that if you are applying to MDC, and are in between the Generic and Accelerated option, just apply to both. Generic has about 180 slots, and accelerated has approx 40-60 slots (if i recall correctly). So your chances are higher with Generic. I am currently in my first semester of the Generic program. My gpa when I applied last September was a 3.6, and there were people who I know that had a couple gpa points lower who also got in. Good luck to everyone!!!! :wink2:
Thanks FSUMiami!
I followed your posts when you were applying and waiting...And now it's my turn to freak out! lol I wonder if "RNintheMaking" (i think that was her name) ever re-applied? She was also back and fourth with you posting...and she didn't get in with a 3.26 I think....Congrats again, and I hope you are doing well in the program!!!!!
Thank you FutureRN!! I wonder if RNinthemakin ever applied again too! Please keep me posted on your path! And if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line!
Thanks!!! its always good to know someone whos "been there"

When I spoke to the admissions counselor I was told that I needed a 3.4 in my transfer credit to apply to the generic and accelerated program.

Hey everyone....I am finishing up my first semester at MDC, and from what i can remember the cut off for generic was about 3.6. Let me tell you, if you want it badly and you don't get it, try again. Nothing in life that is worthwhile comes easily. I know someone in the accelerated program and the cut off for the spring sememster was about 3.8 or so. Good luck to everyone applying, it is hard work and you may have to give up your life..lol!!! but it is worth it in the end! good luck again.
