It's that time again! MDC Nursing hopefuls...May 1st

U.S.A. Florida

So here we are again, halfway through another long semester. I am currently taking A&P II with the lab, Micro, and Nutrition. (those are the last of my pre-reqs) I think I will be at a 3.4 all cum when this is all said and done. Currently I have a 3.39 and even if I get starights A's again, I don't think it will bump my GPA much higher than a 3.4something.

Anyone ready to turn in their application for the May 1st deadline?! I am going to turn mine in, knowing that 3.6 is the cut off, however....maybe I have a fighting chance!?

Anyone else have the GPA blues? btw, in other schools/programs, a 3.4 is not bad at all! :twocents:

I got into Barry, but who can afford Barry! They already want $225 :bluecry1:

Oh...and when I dropped off my application, I also asked how many applications they had already received. The advisor told me that she did not know the figure for the AO, but they usually receive around 400. She then told me that they had already received 1000 for the GO! Lord knows by how much more that has increased this week! :uhoh21:

Still, let's all keep the faith!

Thanks Takiyah!!!!!!!!!! I really appreciate all your input and info! Today I took my last final =) Now, we patiently wait.....I decided to forget about Barry. I enrolled at FIU to take the 2 required classes this fall that are FIU only classes (intro to nursing and communications). This is incase I don't get in MDC, so that I can apply at FIU nursing for next spring...again, just trying to cover all bases lol

I wish you luck and Im keeping my fingers crossed for all of us!!!!!!!!! :tinkbll:

Cool. Having a backup plan is definitely a good idea. Unfortunately, I have all my egss in one basket right now. I just seriously can't afford to go anywhere other than MDC right now (I have too much debt from my undergraduate degree...from a VERY expensive private university).

I thought that Barry also required courses that could only be taken at their school...or was that just for the acclerated program?

Maybe some religion classes since they are a catholic school. But it can be taken in conjunction with the program. At FIU, you must take the classes before you apply to get accepted.

When I went in today I could have sworn the counselor told me there were 14,000 applications received, but I guess she must have said 1,400, which is still alot, but better than 14,000. It looks like this might just be the year where only 4.0's get in because a lot of people are switching careers and only have the prereqs on there transcripts therefore if they have all A's in prereqs and no other classes they would still get in over someone who may have more classes completed, which to me is not fair and explains why so many people fail or dropout, but I guess its the easier way to do it.

did they say anything else? i called today..and letters go out at the end of June/beginning of July...that's all I got out of the receptionist lol

Oh, and I had heard 1,000 applicants, but that was a couple days before the deadline. They still haven't even cashed the $25 check I sent with the application. lol bad sign? nahhh they will cash it regardless, Im being silly lol...anyway...as we all wait, I wish us all luck :specs:
