  1. Hey guys! I'm back...sorry for the delay! My third semester has finally come to an end! Woohoo...one more semester to go! As to your question, in my opinion...if you need to freshen up on any basic math, I would say to go ahead and practice some problems...multiplying fractions, etc... but that's about it! Take advantage of the time you do have now to do things you probably won't be able to do during NS. Leave all the reading for when the actual program begins.
  2. Hey guys Im currently in the 3rd semester at MDC (generic) If you have any questions I don't mind Helping! I'll try to help as much as I can!
  3. Hey FutureRN...I was reading some of your posts, and I want to tell you to NOT give up. I'm a strong believer that everything happens for a reason...and the GPA cut off changes every semester...I got into the nursing program (as you know i'm just finishing my first semester as we speak) with a 3.5, and I know someone who got in with a 3.37... and as for myself, I didn't know ANYONE at the Medical Campus who could play favorites with me. So make sure you don't give up, and apply to MDC. You never know what could happen. Good luck and please keep me posted! And as always, if you have any questions, feel free to message me!
  4. Thank you FutureRN!! I wonder if RNinthemakin ever applied again too! Please keep me posted on your path! And if you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line!
  5. I think with a 3.39 you have a chance of getting into the Generic. From my personal experience, I believe that if you are applying to MDC, and are in between the Generic and Accelerated option, just apply to both. Generic has about 180 slots, and accelerated has approx 40-60 slots (if i recall correctly). So your chances are higher with Generic. I am currently in my first semester of the Generic program. My gpa when I applied last September was a 3.6, and there were people who I know that had a couple gpa points lower who also got in. Good luck to everyone!!!! :wink2:
  6. Hey Den1978, Do you have your RN already? If not, and if you are looking for a BSN program, MDC only has an ADN (Associate's Degree in Nursing option), and RN-to-BSN program. I'm not too familiar with the other schools, but from what I hear, Barry and Nova have excellent BSN programs. Good luck!
  7. Obama Obama Obama Obama!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  8. Yes, actually in Miami, I know someone who waited 9 hours in line yesterday for Early Voting! I waited for 3 hours and I thought that was long! and for all you Floridians, remember to vote NO to Amendment 2 :)
  9. OBAMA!!! :) I also voted early.
  10. Thanks butterfly!!! You better believe when I start in January I will be on this message board asking you for advice LOL!! Do you have any tips for the newbies???
  11. Hey Melissa, Yes I applied to the Jackson Scholar's program, just waiting for the interview! Have you noticed, time is going fast! It'll be 2009 and we will be in Nursing School, how exciting and scary at the same time!
  12. Hey everyone! I'm also starting the RN program in January...I am excited and nervous at the same time! And as far as what I would like to end up doing, I see myself getting experience on a Med-Surg floor for 2 years and then applying for the ER! Who knows though, I am open to any new experiences to see where I best fit!
  13. Heyy, I got the Saunders NCLEX-RN Comprehensive Review book for $16 dollars used on Amazon, and it came in great condition!! I would suggest trying out amazon.
  14. LOL No problem! I was worried that I took the wrong day off from work! Good luck on your search.
  15. Melissa, Orientation is Nov 10th or Nov 20???? On my letter it says Nov 20th. I'm worried now!
