Clearly, one of the best things about being a school site nurse is the delightful schedule. I work at an elementary school with plenty going on all day. Just when I'm starting to feel emotionally exhausted...bam, vacation! One of the things I will not be taking for granted during vacation is: eating my lunch without being interrupted 10 times and having someone poop in my office restroom. What will you be grateful for during your winter break?
I am looking forward to not being responsible for my type 1 diabetic (not having needed supplies, not being able to reach parent, not eating ideal meals, high and low swings, etc.) for a little bit. I am only here part time and can only do so much to help the parents plan ahead to care for this child's needs. I am at my end! Just one more day....
We have Crazy Sweater Day on 12/22 (what *is* it with that trend?) I wear scrubs, so I'm going to wear my snowman scrubs ( I usually wear solids) and antlers. I know. Hold back the insanity. My kids both go to the school in which I am The Nurse. They are mortified.
Wait, you are still in school on the 22nd? We are out tomorrow, hallelujah!
My favorite casual nurse where I work [a SNF] is a school nurse. Love her stories! Not sure who would be harder to work with, the kiddos and their their parents or the old ones and their kids! She excels at both. School is out after the 23rd, yes our district is in class right up until Christmas Eve, I am so looking forward to her picking up a few shifts during the break.
