It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year

Clearly, one of the best things about being a school site nurse is the delightful schedule. I work at an elementary school with plenty going on all day. Just when I'm starting to feel emotionally exhausted...bam, vacation! One of the things I will not be taking for granted during vacation is: eating my lunch without being interrupted 10 times and having someone poop in my office restroom. What will you be grateful for during your winter break?

mortifying your kids really is the best gift of all!

Bwhahahhahahaha!!!

I am looking forward to not being responsible for my type 1 diabetic (not having needed supplies, not being able to reach parent, not eating ideal meals, high and low swings, etc.) for a little bit. I am only here part time and can only do so much to help the parents plan ahead to care for this child's needs. I am at my end! Just one more day....

Amen to that! My BP doesn't have to go up a few points every time I see this one particular diabetic sneaking a donut or treat when he thinks I'm not looking.

Right after I typed that post the student came and asked if she could eat some candy. Her insulin bolus had already been administered for the afternoon. She is very sensitive! Ummmm NO!! It's like we haven't taught her a single thing.

I have actually had a crazy week. Sent home 20+ kids with flu symptoms in 3 days. Then, stir in the usual silliness and such - I am just ready for this week to be over and done!!

We have Crazy Sweater Day on 12/22 (what *is* it with that trend?) I wear scrubs, so I'm going to wear my snowman scrubs ( I usually wear solids) and antlers. I know. Hold back the insanity.

My kids both go to the school in which I am The Nurse. They are mortified.

Wait, you are still in school on the 22nd? We are out tomorrow, hallelujah!

My favorite casual nurse where I work [a SNF] is a school nurse. Love her stories! Not sure who would be harder to work with, the kiddos and their their parents or the old ones and their kids! She excels at both. School is out after the 23rd, yes our district is in class right up until Christmas Eve, I am so looking forward to her picking up a few shifts during the break.

Bah humbug. I just realized we are here to the 23rd as well.

Me, too. And the 23rd is a full day of school. It is going to be off the wall here next Monday and Tuesday.

Yup. Work through the 23rd here too. Hunker down and pray for daylight!

Today is our last day! Phew! I can see the light at the end of the tunnel. I'm excited for 2 weeks away from this building and all the germs in it! Hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season!
