...and I've already seen 5 students (from 7:20 on).

1 infected hangnail

"Oh, YOU'RE the nurse?" Said by a student who knows my kids but I guess never made the connection that I am their mom AND the school nurse.

1 girl-fight on the bus this morning (lots of scratches)

1 painful looking blister

1 stomach pain who drank 5 energy drinks yesterday and ate some chips at 1 am last night

1 "I think I have a fever" who totally messed up by taking Tylenol before he got to school. He might have had a fever, but we'll never know now, will we, buddy?

And the full moon was LAST week.

I was in the school parking lot when I spilled coffee all over myself. Of course, this is the first school year I have not brought an extra pair of scrubs. I met my husband halfway as he brought me some clean ones. That made me get here after the tardy bell and well, you know it goes downhill from there.

(More evidence that a full moon has nada to do with anything ;) )...

I'm not missing my job (yet) except I do miss working with the 4th grade diabetic student.

That Cheerios and snot comment cracked me up!

I was met in the parking lot this morning but not one but two parents with questionable "sick" kids. Teacher on door duty was laughing so hard she had tears! She knows how I feel about those parking lot conferences. Tomorrow I will scope out the lot and may just park on the other end of the building!!!

I get here at 9 and school starts at 8. I cannot stand it when teacher sends down a student before that time unless it is an emergency. Sometimes I will have a line of students who are waiting for me!

grinning hall monitor : Oh THERE YOU ARE, NURSE! YOU HAVE CUSTOMERS WAITING!!!

Yes, a thousand times yes! I have a sign on my door for when I am not there that states the office is closed, breaks down what is an emergency and not (with pictures!), and if it is not, you go back to class, do not pass go, do not collect $200.

See, I don't get the "You have a customer!!" announcement. My office is way at the end of the hall from the main/guidance offices. I just sit at my desk and yell "Come in!!!" all day as kids knock on my door.

"You have a customer!!!!" would drive me batty though.

I really wish I could just keep my clinic door closed but two students keep their second wheel chair in the clinic so the doors are always opened!

Does everyone have one of those???

.

YES! And they all think they are hysterical!!!

Parent Parking lot conferences are the worst! Hello? Do you not see me juggling 3 bags and my coffee? My day hasn't even started. Seriously? I don't really care about your child's nose bleed from last night, especially not before I've had said cup of coffee in my hand!

Thankfully I dont enter the building where parent drop off is - but, I do walk across the playground. So every child that has fallen, thinks they may have fallen, is sick today, but couldn't bother to tell parents that, or needs hats/mittens/coats....follows me in. Oh, and my 8am pill kid follows me too. I feel like a momma duck sometimes!
