The unit ran out of red Jello. The Nurse Manager knows it's my favorite flavor.
Ah, fear not, Beachy!Fake Hoof-Free Jell-oops (pun, not typo) awaits:
Thank goodness! My 13 year old loves red Jello but watched "How Is It Made" the other day and walked up to me, disgusted! "Mom, they use animal hooves to make Jello!! I'll never eat it again!".
Bwaaahaahaa . . .more real red Jello for me.

Steph,
Our neighbors on one side are Jewish and Muslim on the other side. One uses a gelatin mix with a soy base and the other uses one with a seaweed base. I forget which is which. I have eaten both (yes, the requisite "red" flavor and can't tell it from the Jello brand we buy. Would one of those be a solution to get around the "YUCK!" factor for your 13 year-old?
Did he also tell you to warm it up a little so he get it in fast? You have to watch for these type of behaviors. You can always tell from experience that a patient is not really hungry. I know cause I have been a nurse for a really long time.
We are required by the MDs to mix all of our jello in with the cocktail fruit cup. That prevents them from getting a "jello high" from mainlining the stuff.
We wouldn't to feed an addiction, now would we.
Okay, this is really important. Is strawberry flavored red jello better than cherry flavored red jello? Or should I go for the black cherry red jello. (I have been remiss in my duties, I use blue jello)
My dad used to say any flavor of Jello was good as long as it was -- you guessed it -- red. I guess "red" is a flavor after all. As far as I'm concerned, as long as it isn't lemon-flavored, it's good to go.
That's weird because I love anything else lemon-flavored, but lemon Jello? EEE-UUU-CCC-KKK!
I've wondered what he'd have thought of the blue raspberry? Not much, I suspect!
I haven't read the all the replies (because I don't care what anyone else thinks) but I'm posting anyway because you all MUST know my opinion of jello. Bullying about jello is an example of lateral violence. I will now post random links from the Institute on Jello Violence that states that Bohleen about Jell-O is common amongst nurses. Nurses are known for eating young Jell-O.
