Say you got vaccinated and choose not to stand in the middle of the street to tell the world. Yet friend or coworker keeps nagging you to tell them if you did or not
These discussions astound me honestly. I couldn't wait to put a picture of myself (not in vanity, but in pride!) on FB getting my vaccination. I wanted to encourage others who may be hesitant to get vaccinated. I got quite sick after my second shot...all of my symptoms were signs of a STRONG immune response and I blogged about that and shared that too. I cheered on my body for such a great response. If we don't tell everybody we know that we got vaccinated, we are keeping a secret that needs to be spread around. We are the example of vaccine strength, trust and belief in science and vaccines!! We are currently seeing the results of anti vax, anti science and anit mask behavior in many States... I am in Maine and it is only in a few counties, but if allowed to continue without addressing it, we will be right back where we started almost 2 years ago. Public AND personal health are the goals. We need mandates, and they definitely should start in healthcare. Where else is it more important? I'm done being sympathetic or even understanding (I don't pretend to understand them) with anti vaxxers.....they need to get on board with putting this pandemic to rest.
The tone does matter. When I was asked by the individual it was like he was going to pounce if I said I didn't. I did, I just didn't like the approach. Made me think if I did not this individual would of let loose. I was put off to be honest. After all don't people want other to feel good about getting the COVID vaccine, not in fear of public harassment and shame if they are hesitant? In my opinion, it will only fuel more vaccine hesitancy.
Also this individual also would loudly proclaim their disgust for people who are hesitant. What if someone overheard him who was. Is that going to make them run and get the COVID vaccine?
Yes, tone does matter. Nobody has the right to harass any coworker about vaccinations. I truly believe there will be mandates, there already are in many places. When that happens, it will give the compliance policing to managers and health offices. It isn't up to coworkers to threaten or harass or torment anyone about vaccinating, but it may be come part of our/your qualifications for some jobs.

Of course it is wild, silly, and a speculation. You should hear my speculation about the zombie apocalypse. In my wild speculation I would not be surprised if that happened. I mean "The Lottery" is short story about a wild speculation, unhinged from facts, and evidence as well. That still doesn't mean that society would not have such a feeling about doing just that if the vaccine was forced onto people.

Are you implying that people should harbor real concern that this federal government might resort to forced vaccination...or that local governments might? In the midst of deadly pandemic it seems unwise to offer up wild speculation that might further vaccine opposition. IMV
I speculate that first private businesses will mandate vaccines. Many LTCs and hospitals are private businesses. The mandates will be piecemeal...and probably not very organized, but eventually, one way or the other...most folks will be vaccinated...that is if they value their jobs. It is legal for businesses to set their own rules. It's too bad people don't just cooperate and do vaccinations voluntarily, but I guess that would just be too much to expect of some people.

If I told you I could eat a horse, will you be afraid I will literally eat a horse? Of course not. Anyone can, but I wouldn't know how and where to get a horse. Me think you think way too much into things. Are you too familiar with 911, a Karen perhaps.

I've had covid. I had it when it first came out in autumn 2019 and again March of this year. I do government work and was exposed to a Chinese doctor who had it in October 2019. So I had the luxury of having it before anyone knew what it was. I fully believe there is a lot we are not being told about this virus and how it came about, mainly because of my experience in having it before the pandemic officially started. At this point my employer, the VA, has mandated the vaccine. I have acquired immunity, however long that lasts. At this point if they fire me they fire me. Whatever. I have been a nurse for 10 years and an aid / tech for 5 before that. I went through nursing school when it was taught that the first right is the right to refuse... remember that ? I know the young nurses and zealots will say nasty things to me. They're indoctrinated to marxist ways of thinking. I caught covid taking care of patients. Unless they give me an exemption it's time to bail. I'm not anti vax at all. If they had an attenuated virus version I would take it no issue....very disappointed in the direction of this country and healthcare. Save the name calling and virtue signaling. Until you can prove that the vaccine makes you "more" immune than someone with acquired immunity.
