Is there a possiblity of a drug test on CNA first day orientation

Nursing Students CNA/MA

Updated:   Published

as the title says, please just need an answer. Had interview at a local nursing home on Thursday, got called today for orientation tomorrow, all I know it's gonna be 9 hours.

I'm really happy that I got the job by my first interview and I have no experience in healthcare field. It's just that I messed up and need a day or two to pass the test.

If high possibility tomorrow, I'm thinking of not going so I don't risk losing my license.

any help is appreciated, I know it's my fault.

I havent smoked weed in a month. Stressing over my low gpa and finding out that I probably cant get into nursing school, I ended up trying adderall to help me study.

anyway, im at break, no mention of drug test so far, dont think theres one

I got hired for 11-7 am per diem

not sure how that works, but im guessing on call when needed

Adderall doesn't help you study unless you have ADHD. That is a common misconception among the oh-so-brillant teenagers out there. It's a stimulant. So if you don't have ADHD all it is going to do is work like speed and make you bounce off the wall and probably not focus at all. For some reason, stimulants have a different effect on those with ADHD. It calms them down and helps them focus. Have you ever given 2 kids caffeine, one with ADHD and one without? There is a huge difference.

I really hope you don't use Adderall or anything like it to keep you going through overnight shifts because you be putting them at risk. Most likely your coworkers will think you are tweeking and you will be drug test and end up losing the job you so wanted. It's not easy working that shift so if need be just drink coffee or drink a coke but please don't take it any further.

Well heck they can take a hair strand and test for drugs because it can detect drugs from longer back in time then urine one interviewer told me.

I have never worked someplace that did a hair strand for drugs. They could hypothetically find things in your system from before some people were even in healthcare. Seems excessive

That interview wasn't for a healthcare interview, but hair strand testing is a reliable method that any employee can use, healthcare or elsewhere. And yes, they are looking for drug use past or present. And for example if someone tested positive it would be hard to explain to an potential employee that drugs were used in past but you don't use anymore cause they are not gonna hire someone who has used drugs period. I have worked healthcare 15 years and my drug tests were always urine samples.

I had my drug screen done during pre-employment health screening

Actually the adderall I took, I barely felt it...idk if I felt anything actually

i did sit for 10 hours including breaks to read the first book in my life on my own, sat in library and my mind wasnt wandering off. Did the same thing the next day.

orientation is done, idk why but I guess they dont drug test at all, unless there is suspicion. At clinicals, they told me they dont drug test too. I think they actually should test.

Now this is the career im going into, I would never smoke or take a pill before. I can stay till 7 am so easy without even drinking coffee, Im a night person. I will be drinking coffee of course cause I love it.

Im gonna be in the sub acute care. she said sorry to put you in the hardest station. I dont actually mind though, seems more exciting to me

thanks for help everyone, now ima browse what I can learn on this forum to help me make it.

Good luck with everything.
