For anyone who cares just wanted to update and say I got the job!!!!! I start November 20th!!!!

Minor update today: I called HR and explained I wanted to check the status of the position/find out if I was still being considered. I was put through to the recruiter handling this section of the hosptial candidates. She didn't answer so I left her a voicemail. On the voicemail I mentioned I'd like to follow up on the status of my interview from 10/10. Additionally, I asked if all my references were received. She called me back 15 minutes later and told me all of my references were received and that now the only thing she was waiting for was for the managers to give her their decision. She said when she gets that she'd be the one to contact me. I feel fairly okay with this despite I'm still in limbo until a final decision is made. The ball seems to be back into the unit managers court at this point. Hoping may be to hear something back later this week as I think the next hospital orientation group begins on Monday.

Thank you so much for your response. I didn't send a thank you (ugh I feel like a fool for not doing so). I will do as you suggest and wait a week then follow up. It's just so nerve wrecking having to wait lol.

Hello everyone, I applied for a position at a major teaching hospital back in August. I never got a call back but my application status changed from "received" to "currently under consideration". After a month past I pretty much let it go after not hearing anything. This past Monday however the unit manager for the position I applied to gave me a call. Oddly enough I received an email generated from the HR office to input references. The email stated that I could do them now or wait until further along in the process. I interviewed with her the next day that Tuesday. The interview went well IMO. She apologized for the delay in reaching out (though she never specified why it took so long). She admitted to being impressed with a lot of my answers. She even stated based off of some of the things I said it was exactly what she was looking for. She then had me shadow a current staff member on the unit as she went to do another interview. I was with her for 30 mins. Even the shadow experience seemed to go well. Finally I met back with the manager in her office to do a final chat. She stated she had one more interview to do and that she'd then give HR her decision. She said HR would be doing the contacting afterwards. When I got home I immediately started sending links to some references to fill out on my behalf. (Only one has completed the reference so far. The manager requires 5 to be submitted). Its only been 2 days and I'd like to know in your opinion when (or if) I should reach out if I don't receive the call first. Should I wait a bit longer? HR has it explicitly on their site that they cannot give status updates about applications. It doesn't state however if they give out updates about applicants who actually interviewed. I don't know if they're waiting for references prior to offering. The email for references stated that could come later so I'm confused on this. any advice or comments are appreciated

Yes, this was my first time in a health care setting. It took me about a month to acclimate to the job and find my groove. Best part is everyone is very friendly+ patient and were/are willing to lend a helping hand. They understood that this was my first medical job post school so everyone took my under the wing during orientation and even after. hopefully you'll get an awesome precept I as well. A good one makes all the difference in my opinion

I currently work as a tech in a hospital. Though my job has it's ups and downs I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoy it. I work night shift 12hrs. My title is a tech level III which allows me to draw blood, obtain urinalysis, blood sugar, INR readings, hemocult checks, bladder scans and EKG's. technically I work two different shifts (due to working 12's). From 7-11 I'm responsible for 7 pts. From 11-7 that number goes up to 14 on average. Due to the shift in on there is a bit of down time. I take on various other duties such as stocking supplies, programming various medical machines, and any other things my nurses may need me to take care of. working here I've learned some great skills. The environment may be faced paced but I wouldn't trade the opportunity for the world. Additionally the nurses I work under try to include me in a lot of their care to give me the exposure and experience. I've even been allowed to aide them in certain procedures that I wouldn't be able to do any where else.

Hello All! I currently work as a Nurse Tech in a hospital. I work nights, but looking to branch out elsewhere to help supplement my income. I was wondering if a nurse tech could be hired as a medical assistant? I came across an ad for a medical assistant listing and it doesn't mention anything about needing specific training or certification as one. It's main requirement though is applicants possibly one year of one year clinical experience in a hospital or physician's office. I just wanted an idea what the chances would be for me landing an interview for this position. Or whether or not id be wasting my time by even applying.

While doing the skills exam on test day I said all the steps out loud as I did them. That helped me to remember all the steps

I got my certification in late March of this year. I accepted my a job offer mid April. Someone will call. Just keep putting in your apps, and follow up with some phone calls. GL on your search

Each level you reach you obtain the ability to do new skills which is great. Level ones do basic ADL's, level two can do EKG's, blood sugars, hemoccult testing, bladder scans. Level three in addition can do venipuncture. Level four is what they consider mentor status. Level fours take new CNA's under their wings, and act as preceptors during their orientation.

Where I work, there are 4 levels of CNA's. Your pay gets increased by 4% after reaching a new level. I'm currently in stage one though. Ultimately though, it'll depend on where you work
