School in the fall for meeeeee XD !!!! I'm so excited although I am a little nervous about enjoying myself. Will we still have fun as nursing student, or is life as we know it over for the next 4 years?

I'm not sure if I'm the best person to answer this question because I've only been in nursing school for a month but I'll throw in my 2 cents. If you are good about managing your time you will have a life outside of school, maybe not what it was but you won't be a hermit. I'm juggling 4 kids and school but still make time for my family and friends. True I can't do all of the things that I used to but I still have fun and seem to enjoy my free time more than I used to. I don't take it for granted any more! I figure in two years when I'm done and have a job I'll have more money and time to spend on/with my family so it's worth it.
I do think that nursing school is fun but I've wanted to be a nurse for ever so I'm still very excited to go to class.
Good luck to you!

Yes! I mean it is stressful and hard work but I do love it. Theres no other major where you can do what you do in nursing. It pushes you and when you succeed, oh my gosh, you feel so proud and confident! WHen a patient hugs you for caring for them its wonderful. When you can help a mother through labor and delivery, I couldn't stop smiling that whole day! You practice and validate skills in lab and then when you have to do in clinical you may be nervous but you go in there and your patient is relying on you and you calmly perform even if you're scared sh*&^less inside and you do it and leave the room like you just crossed the finish line of a 10K lol it feels so good and then it gets easier and more enjoyable and the parts that do kinda suck you can lean on your classmates and make each other feel better or have a good laugh :) I do enjoy it a lot, long as you can deal with a lil stress and kinda a lot of work :)

If you have a sense of humor and can laugh at things, then yes. I noticed a lot of people turned more and more sour as things went on. I'm more of a type B so laid-back. You can't get all worked up over things, especially nursing instructors. They will not change so don't even try with them (unless they are being absolutely ridiculous).

Yes, make some friends along the way to share in the bad and good experiences. They'll be your source of sanity for the next couple of years.

being a student nurse can make you feel nervous especially for the first year but eventually you will get used to taking care of patients..vital signs, emptying urine bags, bringing specimens to the lab, assisting RNs in the ward, documenting and all that other stuff..as a 4 year nursing graduate I learned a WHOLE LOT and thank god i did...for it can help u through your life...the mist important thing to be a nursing student is be loyal and be realistic(clinical part) f
good luck!!!

You will be swamped with work, reports, care plans, learning assessment skills you may have time to have fun. But the course of study is hard. the work is hard. but there will be times -not many of them- to have some fun.

You know, it's all in what you make of it! It will be hard and it's a lot of work but I myself don't particularly mind. I am going into my second semester and I have been enjoying it. And I am 30 with a child, so it's possible as a older student to have fun too!

What is your definition of fun? What is fun for me may not be fun for you. I can only assume at this point that I will have fun in nursing school.

I'm about to graduate from nursing school in 3 months. But I have never liked school. No doubt in my mind that nursing is for me. I LOVE my job and I have been a float patient support tech for the past 2 years and a CNA before that. It's hard being so broke thru out school and having absolutely no time for any of your friends or family, but if you can get thru that, you've got this. If I could ever give advice to any aspiring nurse, it would be to shadow a nurse if you've never worked in a healthcare setting before. A lot of people spend tens of thousands to graduate with a degree they don't want because they see that it's more than just med passes and charting. WAY MORE. it takes physical as well as emotional tolls on you everyday. just know this is what you want to do for sure, and not having a life for 4 years will pay off in your future for sure!
being a nursing student will be worth it after passing NCLEX..so dont lose hope in nursing school..:thankya:

I graduate in December, and I am glad! You can definately have a life while you are in nursing school, but there are going to be times where you have your face in a book for what seems like days at a time. Enjoy it, but make sure you take the time to study. No point in being in school if you're not going to try! Good luck to you.
