Right now, I have no life as it is. I am not married, and I do not have a signficant other. I talk to my friends occassionally, they all work and are nursing students. I don't have any children, and I have no responsibility whatsoever. My parents are willing to support me until I finish nursing school. Will it be less stressful/hard for me? I keep hearing how it's so hard if you have children/husband etc but I don't have any of that
I felt like a zombie most of the time. Get up, shower, dress, go to class, come home, study, sleep. I went to school during the week and worked on the weekends. It annoyed me to high hell when people would say I shouldn't be stressed. I wanted to tell them to kiss my butt.
I don't think that anyone was usggesting that.
Of course work and school is easier without kids.
I went to nursing school as a single young woman, lived at home and worked a part-time job.
I had tremendous flexibility in time, and the time outside of work and school was mine to spend as I pleased.
My outside responsibilities were limited to some cooking and cleaning for my parents and planning my wedding. Those are nothing compared to the childcare in my opinion.
I never had to worry about childcare and backup childcare, sick days, or the inflexible hours of school.
Of course it is less stressful. You don't have to work to support yourself or anyone else.
You are not obligated to spend time with anyone or anything but your books.
On this I agree 100%... Life is SO much easier when you have ultimate freedom and minimal responsibilities.
Really, in this situation you would have no excuse for not succeeding
Yeah, um.......
You do realize there are OTHER issues besides families and children that can impede success right???
ok...
im gonna put in my 2 cents worth!!!
not that it matters... but everyone is different...
to me it gave me a lot more stess because i was single and *looking*
a single guy in nursing school .. trust me.. not a bad place to be...
but if all of your friends in school are hot and married then it makes it a bit stressfull.....
especially when they start to like you...
i will be honest.... i had the opportunity... but i didn't...
they were married... i was not...
i really almost did once.... but i didn't... and we are still very good friends to this day... me and her husband....
does her husband know?.... hmmm.... NOPE!
AND DON'T ANY OF YA'LL TELL HIM!!!
but... it really depends.... * i think* if i had a wife and someone to go home too... then i would not have been so involved in flirting w/ the nurses on the floors or the students in my class....
just depends on the person i think~~~

Maybe it's just me but how does being the only guy surrounded by women that like you get stressful?
What's marriage got to do with it??? It's not YOUR marriage.
ROFL Heh J/K :chuckle
Paranoia over miffed husbands could be stressful I guess.
Coming from a nurse who currently fits what you describe, the answer is NO! Life didn't make school or working as a nurse stressful. Working and school was stressful. Currently I work in a high stress area and will return to school in Jan. 2009 and I don't want to think of how busy my life will be.
There is no straightforward answer here...there are so many factors taken under consideration, some people are naturally smart and can learn quickly, some are slow learner, some women have good husband who will be supportive and take over a lot of houshold duties, some single people work and go to school and some just go to school it also depends on the semester, some are harder than others. What I'm trying to say is that each situation is individual...
