Is LVN not enough for you!

I just want to be a nurse without all the responsibilities. I love the medical field and there is so much it has to offer.

I want to learn and grow plus help people. The bonus is being financially stable.

So,why is being a Lpn not good enough for people. Why do people say keep going! Your doing RN,right?

My answer is Nooooooooo!

Pay might be Excellent but my nerve isn't built for stress. If I start to sweat, it's all over.

Some people need the big title to feel important but I don't. That a Society pressure, have the best of the best. Which isn't even the best if you ask me.

I just want to do, all I can while on this earth to help other. Not have people tell me the LPN route isnt good enough. I have to be Registered Nurse(RN), drive a Mercedes Benz 2019, have a million dollars or I'm nothing. No... that your pressure that I will not accept, I dream big everyday.

If you want to do something, do it because that what you want. Not society. Right?

Uhh... can I just ask why you think LPNs don't have responsibility and/or stress?

I don't know about your area of the country but in my area, there is not much of a market for LPNs outside of SNFs. I'd say being a nurse in a SNF taking care of 30 patients is definitely way more stressful than anything I've ever done in 11 years as an RN.

I'm sorry but I don't know any RNs that drive a 2019 Mercedes-Benz or have a million dollars... Also, LPNs have probably just as much responsibility as RNs, just different roles.

Ummmmm... what??

I'm so confused, I don't even know what to say... Do you really think that RNs are millionaires? I come from a family of nurses and we've always lived modestly. Sometimes we struggled. Actually, quite often we were paycheck to paycheck...

This has to be a troll thread...

Any RN who has a million dollars certainly didn't get it from nursing. Perhaps they won the lottery and just kept their license active. Or perhaps they married into wealth and work per diem just to stay busy.

I drive a 2012 Toyota Corolla that has 100K miles on it and I'm hoping to get another 4-5 years out of it. Even if I came upon a million dollars I wouldn't buy a 2019 Mercedes Benz though. After taxes, I'd have $610K and then if I paid off my mortgage, student loans, and debts from other home repairs, I'd have about $300K left so I'd definitely still be working as an RN...

An RN is not a big title. Simmer down lmao.

No matter what you say you're going to be in life, people who are not in the same position always have to offer their 2c.

Ie:

I'm going to be a RN - - nursing schools: be a NP

I'm going to a physician - - friends: be a surgeon

I'm going to be a pilot - - be a US Airmen

I'm going to buy a teacher - - be a principal

Stop caring what people think and go do what makes you happy.

Ha ha, that's hilarious, thanks for the belly laugh! :D

Sorry if what I wrote came off bad. I just wanted to get people feedback on how society pressure make us feel bad. Like I'm finishing my prerequisite for the LPN program and all people care to ask is , Am going for R.N to make more money. Being a nurse isn't about money but caring for other

youre married? when are you having kids?! hahaha. all aspects of life.

Oh, the fabulous railroad life that society places on you...

Society: You're dating? Marry!

Society: Renting an apartment? Buy a house!

Check and check!

Now that you have met these requirements, please move on to tier 2.

Society: Do you have children?

No!

Society: Get some!

No!

Society: SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH YOU IF YOU DON'T WANT CHILDREN! YOU WILL DIE ALONE!

The end.

All nursing jobs can be stressful, whether you are an LPN, RN, NP.. it doesn't matter. Find your niche and live your life!

You are right, there is that society pressure. Mine also comes from my family who make it seem like nothing is ever enough. People will always ask about your next step. It's something I encounter a lot but I don't care. I am currently an LVN in a multispecialty medical office and love it. I mainly work in Urgent Care, but float to other departments all the time. I have been crossed trained on anything from internal medicine to pediatrics to gyn, orthopedics... and even help the phlebotomist. I am having so much fun in my current role that I never want to leave. I do have some distant future plans (maybe, just maybe) to further my education with the purpose of coming back to the clinic as an NP....but I would also be happy if I stayed here in my current role. Just like you said, to me nursing is about caring about our patients. It has never been about the money. There are so many other professions that pay waaaay more than nursing but I wouldn't trade my job for anything. Just do what makes you happy. You said that you are going for an LVN. Work for a while and see how you feel. If going back to school is something you want to do, great. As long you have that internal motivation/ reason and not external ( other people), you will be fine.
