Previous Employer Lied to Background Check Company
Hi all!! I need some advice. I recently got offered a great job with a big hospital system that I am really excited to work for. I already put in my notice at my current employer, so this situation has me nervous. I am a fairly new nurse (about 1.5 years in). This job that I applied for does a very thorough background check, including verifying all previous employment. I didn’t think this would be a big deal because I have excelled at every place I have worked, as far as I knew. My first healthcare job, that I held from 6/2019-10/2020 working my way up from UAP to CNA to RN. They reported to this background check company that I was not rehireable for cause due to a no call no show. I am very upset. I gave proper notice and worked until they took me off the schedule. I have the email I sent to HR and my boss giving my notice. I am so upset that this may impact this job that I am really excited about. How would you handle this? Should I get ahead of it and email the new job now? I have no idea what to do. Help please!

Accountable Care Unit?
Does anyone know what an accountable care unit is? I see a job posting near me, but I've never heard of this before and a Google search just gives a very vague answer. It doesn't explain what kinds of patients are there, like is it just like med/surg? Thanks in advance for any responses you have!

High School Students over 18
So I'm having a question come up from a parent regarding IHPs. Their student recently turned 18, so the parent is not sure if they can sign the IHP for their student. I can't find a clear answer regarding this and I am a brand new school nurse. What do your districts say about students 18 and over. Furthermore, what about sharing health information with parents of students over the age of 18?

I got in!!!!! HGTC Spring 2019
Sure! I had 10 points overall I believe. I’m now going into 4th semester, which is OB and Peds. I took the TEAS test to get in and I believe my score was an 84 or an 85.

New nurse - how to research hospitals from nurse's perspective?
Hey there! I’m a third semester ADN student in Myrtle Beach. I’m currently looking into Greenville Memorial Hospitals Residency program. I’ve been researching their website of course and also trying to read through Glassdoor and similar sites, but the info is pretty limited. If you hear anything, let me know and I’ll do the same ?

PrepU If your school uses it, any feedback about the "report questions" feature
My school uses PrepU and I haven’t noticed many major discrepancies like the one you posted here. However, all questions are customized to your textbook, so we probably use two different textbooks and your textbook probably got the short end of the stick....

Overturning a grade is it possible?

Overturning a grade is it possible?
I really can’t believe you want your grade overturned because you were late *twice*, used your cell phone in the wrong area, and had patient complaints. We get sent home from clinical if we even have our cell phones on our person, being late twice is an automatic clinical absence (and you’re only allowed one clinical absence per semester), and depending on what the patient complaints were that could easily have us booted from the program. I honestly don’t know what you’re expecting here....

Blood Titer Help!
My varicella and MMR came back negative. I had to get a booster of each. However, from what you’ve stated it sounds like you have to complete the series again. I’m sure though that there is some kind of form to say you’ll adhere to the dosing schedule and submit proof as you get the vaccines and accept the risk (yadda yadda yadda). My school had those forms for people who weren’t previously vaccinated for Hep B.

Possible move to SC need advice
Hey there! I’m just a student so I can’t say anything about getting the license, but I do live in Myrtle, so I can answer some general questions about jobs and such. Office jobs-including insurance companies-are basically nonexistent here. There are a few small firms here and some of them may deal with workman’s comp, but the problem is that jobs like that fill up in an instant and no one ever leaves them because they are basically unheard of here. Beyond that, most of the firms are so small that I don’t think they would have a staff RN to begin with and they’d probably just outsource that work to a nursing staff agency, but you’d have to look on the company website to be sure on that one. Let me know if I can answer any other questions! I’ve lived here most of my life so I have a pretty good lay of the land with different areas and the pros and cons of the different neighborhoods and such.

Crisis averted
So, to start out, I’m about 3/4 of the way done with my first semester of my ADN program. Yesterday, I had to miss clinical for a new job orientation and I had to turn in my clinical paperwork from the prior week. This is where I made my major, giant, stupid mistake. I sent my clinical paperwork to my instructor through email. But forgot to redact my patients names. When I realized what I did, I had an internal freak out. I was so nervous and upset I didn’t know what to do. I couldn’t focus on my orientation at all yesterday. Finally, today, I hesitantly picked up the phone and called my instructor during her office hours. I was literally in tears with her on the phone upset that I did such a stupid thing. Half of my tears were because I knew I violated the patients trust and the other half were fear that I was going to be kicked out of the program. Thankfully, my instructor was very understanding and destroyed the documents and just let me know to not let it happen again. Ive heard so many horror stories of people getting kicked out of nursing school for much, much less and I hope that I could add a little positivity to the mix. This is a huge learning experience for me and I know I will never make that mistake again. Thanks for reading ?
