Hi all!!

I need some advice. I recently got offered a great job with a big hospital system that I am really excited to work for. I already put in my notice at my current employer, so this situation has me nervous. I am a fairly new nurse (about 1.5 years in). This job that I applied for does a very thorough background check, including verifying all previous employment. I didn’t think this would be a big deal because I have excelled at every place I have worked, as far as I knew.

My first healthcare job, that I held from 6/2019-10/2020 working my way up from UAP to CNA to RN. They reported to this background check company that I was not rehireable for cause due to a no call no show. I am very upset. I gave proper notice and worked until they took me off the schedule. I have the email I sent to HR and my boss giving my notice. I am so upset that this may impact this job that I am really excited about. How would you handle this? Should I get ahead of it and email the new job now? I have no idea what to do. Help please!

Hi,

email your previous employer’s HR department, provide copies of your notice. Call the Hr department and former boss and ask them to clear this issue. Email to your new job’s HR department with the explanation.

Specializes in ER.

That sounds very frustrating.
