I am watching cnn outfront hosted by erin burnett. Throughout this program she has said the most offensive things about nurses that are outrageous. This journalist has no medical experience. Has never worked as a nurse. However, she is actively critizing somone as they fight for their life. This nurse made a huge sacrifice by caring for someone who had ebola. The head of the cdc blame the nurse, doctors are doing inteviews blame the nurse, people who have never worked in a medical setting blame the nurse. We as nurses need stand up and demand the truth be told.

No, I watched the news and they keep blaming the nurse

Specializes in Hospice.

Most of what I'm reading is blaming the EMR system at that particular facility. I haven't seen the same reports you have, so I'm wondering whether they're blaming, per se, versus mentioning her role in a dysfunctional system. I should chase down the show you mentioned, but haven't the time/energy right now. No disrespect intended, just askin'.

It is from the October 13, 2014.

The head of Cdc blamed her Saturday a.m. during a press conference.

Humph!

Agreed - it's pretty outrageous.

Can't hurt to send prayers for the sick nurse and her family. Is there any effort underway to provide more concrete help for them all? I wonder if she's covered by workman's comp.

Oboy - this could get interesting. Maybe starting a legal defense fund would be the best way to help.

I hope there is something we could do as nurses to help.

The head of the CDC came back today and apologized stating he in no way meant to imply it was the fault of the nurse. In my opinion, too late, the damage is already done (although I can appreciate his efforts and apology).

Luv2, I did not see the show you referenced on CNN, but will try to find it.

What would that look like, other than pitching a very public beotch on the subject? A public objection can certainly make a difference but not a very big one all by itself.

Please do. I wish there was way to attach the show on this page.

I am not sure. There is the ANA for all that it is worth. I am not sure of other resources we could use to help this nurse. However, if you know of any please post.

I agree, the damage has been done, even though an apology was issued. This poor nurse, I am so worried about her. It is not enough that she has Ebola, but the hateful, nasty comments regarding both her and nurses in general is uncalled for. I am sure the ones who spout venom online would never take care of an Ebola person themselves. Easy to be an armchair judge.
