Is a B in A&P bad?

Published

As of now, my GPA is about a 3.64. I have all A's in my pre-reqs, except for two B's, one being A&P I. I was just wondering, for community colleges, is a B typically good or bad when deciding to accept a student into the nursing program?

This semester I will be taking A&P II and I really intend to bust my butt to attempt to earn an A, but there is just so much information!

A B is a good grade...give yourself a pat on the back ((HUGS))

It depends on the criteria used for determining the people chosen for admission. If dozens of people with 4.0 GPAs were turned away, the B would not be good enough for entry to that particular program. You should have a talk with the nursing advisor of the school you want to gain admittance to.

Completely going to depend on the school and how competitive the program is

I made a C in A & P 1 and a B in lab. I was wait listed, but by the grace of God was accepted in the BSN program. 5 years later I'm trying to get my MSN.

At my school's program (Laguardia) that would not be very good at all even though a B is a pretty good grade in general for A&P. Hopefully your school isn't as strict

A "B" is a good grade, however it depends on the program or programs that you are applying to with how they determine admission into the program along with how well other students do that will determine if it is good enough for that program. Talk with an advisor to help determine if that grade will be competive enough or if you may need to retake the class (depending on the programs retake policy and if they will take the highest grade of the two or if they average the two). Your best source of information and helping you determine what you will need to do to get into the program is your advisor ;)

It really depends on how many credits it was worth. At my college AP was worth 6 credits, so a B in it would have severely negativity affected the chances of getting it. But if it is worth just as much as your other classes, having one B and the rest As will probably still be enough!

Agree with the ladies a "B" is a good grade but not as competitive as a grade "A" would be .. one of the schools I want to apply a grade "B" won't get you into the program :-/ .. i wish applying to nursing school wasn't that competitive in regards with grades ... but seeing it a positive way personally I wouldn't want a D or F student to be my nurse :-/ .. if you want to improve your grade check out if the school you want to apply is "ok" to repeat the class for a better grade .. some schools won't let you repeat a science class (eg. Ventura College doesn't allow to repeat Microbiology if you want to apply to their nursing program )

At some schools Mirco and Chem are worth more than A&P 1 and 2, however if you have all A's I wouldn't see a problem for you getting in.

A B is a good grade, but it really depends on the program(s) you want to apply to. Personally, in the program I want to apply to, most students would retake it. My advisor told me that I want to shoot for at least a 3.9 because I didn't graduate from the same state and they give priority to people who graduated high school in Nevada.

I had almost all As for my pre-read, except a C in A&P1 (I was pregnant and my daughter was diagnosed with a potentially fatal birth defect mid-semester, so my heart just wasn't in it). I was accepted into my local ADN program my second semester applying.
