Hello everyone, I have a couple of questions and I appreciate your answers.
•What are your favorite work bags? (Where are you currently working? (Home health nurse, hospital nurse,...?)
•Is there anything that you wished your bag had?(extra pockets, any special functions, extra areas for dirty items,...)
Thank you for inputs!

I think it just depends on your workplace and type of job. Just think about your particular needs for your particular workplace. For instance HH would require a different bag than the hospital. I did like having a bag with a outside pocket for pens and other items that patients would touch/handle when I did HH. If you are new to a specialty (or just new) I would wait and see what you need/like before buying anything.

Borrowing from Star Trek, a hand held phaser with adjustable pulsed energy capable of stunning a human or complete vaporization could have come in real handy over the years. Kidding, not kidding!

So I use a thick canvas backpack. I've tried other bags, but this is my goto. It has 4 pockets on the outside, a zip pocket on the inside and a divider that is useful for the laptop/ipad that I sometimes carry. The outside pockets have flaps with a magnetic button. The top zips closed and has a magnetic flap as well. I recently found a shriveled up mandarin orange at the bottom of my bag... guess I need to dump it out more often. I keep each of my supplies in small, net type zipper bags (pens, pencils, tech adapters). I also have caribbeaners hanging off in random spots - one is used specifically for my water bottle. Because we are required to keep our bags on the floor at the nursing station - I use one of the reusable grocery type bags to keep it in. I tried just using the reusable bag, but it didn't feel right. There is just something about this bag... Bought it at TJMaxx and can't find another even remotely like it. If you have ever bought pants from Duluth - it feels a lot like their firehose pants!

Since I have a locker, my bag is just a large, simple purse. There's a zippered pocket for my keys and wallet. Everything else goes in the middle: lunch, drink, extra mask, pens.
I really don't carry much since I have a locker at work and everything I need for my job I keep at work.
Sometimes we float to other floors or the other hospitals in our system in the local area. For that, I do have a backpack that I keep a spare folding clipboard, stethoscope, shelf-stable food, trauma shears, a zipper pouch of pens, and another zipper pouch of OTC meds, hair ties, fingernail file, etc. This backpack is a pretty simple JanSport with two larger compartments and a handful of smaller pockets. I keep all the stuff I need on my person while working in one large compartment, and the other is full of stuff that would generally live in my locker. There's plenty of space for throwing my lunch and a drink on top.
I'd love it if my bag had an unending supply of those plastic membrane covers for the bell of my stethoscope. I'm always losing those...

I'm a school nurse with three different schools so I carry alot with me. I wish my bag had dividers in it. I keep files for each school plus a binder for my CEU, printouts, lessons, etc. But I also keep a bag of peppermints, bag of cough drops, pens, pen light, bp cuff, stethescope, a small bag of emergency bandaids, cortisone cream, neosporin, condoms, etc. If I could somehow organize it a tad better it would be awesome.
