How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.

Rita,
Can I ask why you are switching since are just finishing up your social work degree? I am interested in social work also along with nursing. Are you going to try and combine the two?
Hi all! My name is Amy and I am student nurse. I went to college for many years and earned a BA degree in Psychology. I went on to pursue a MS degree in Psych online but have not completed the Thesis requirement for that degree yet. I decided that I wanted to become a nurse. From there I can do anything, that is my motto!
I am thinking that I will work in case managment or write a book or become a professor. I'm really not sure!
But either way I am excited about this first semester and how it is going. I have a very good grade and its been fun. I'm sure it will get scarier as time goes on!
I am married to a cutie pie and have a house full of animals: three dogs and a cat. My father in law also lives here, we all share a house together!
Hi everyone!
I am starting the 15 month Accelerated BSN program @ NYU this Fall. I am excited and nervous! This is going to be unusual, but I come from a theater background of all things!
Hi! I switched from engineering (yawn!) to pre-nursing. I was accepted into the nursing program, and start my clinicals in August for my RN-ASN. I am still wondering if I should have applied to the BSN program, but figured at this stage in my life, I wanted to get a degree and get to work! I am nervous, but very excited! My sister is in the same program, and our clinicals are at the same hospital for the 1st semester, so I will have a familiar face to help me feel calm. My hubby is great, taking care of the house, our 3 daughters (12, 8, & 2), and me so that all I have to do is study, study, study!
hi dalesgirl. sounds like you have a great support system there with your sis and your hubby taking care of the kids. that's very important. i don't have any kids but my hubby is extremely supportive of me...does a lot of the cooking, etc. and understands when i'm stressed!!! which happens more than i'd care to admit.
good luck to you. :)
