hello I am new to allnurses, but am going in to my 4th level of a 5 level BSN program. I am really excited finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. I am so glad to see something like allnurses where we can be supportive of each other in all stages, future nurses, new nurses and experienced nurses. Good luck to all my fellow student nurses and congrats to all the new nurses!!:)

welcome to the board!

there are only 2 people left? wow! i will keep you in my prayers and keep "us" posted.

i have a year left. i'm in a new program that lets me keep my day job and go to school nights and weekends. i don't know if i'll make it but i'm giving it a heck of a try. i feel like a visitor in my home but it will all be worth it someday. we started out as a class of 14 and are down to myself and one other. we are each others life lines. i am really getting too old to do this but i wouldn't have missed it for the world. say a prayer for me, please.

margaret, welcome! look forward to seeing more of you. all the best in school.

hello everyone!

i'm 39, married (for one year so far:-), no children, and i am in the 3rd semester of 5 semester asn program at my local community college.

i have previous, advanced degrees in an unrelated field and have been working in printing and graphic-design for the last 12 years. i had been thinking about making a change for a long time and had never taken any action until...i got laid off! i live near dc, so our area had a lot of job loss after 9/11. started taking my prerequisites (had never had a&p, or chem), got them all out of the way, and here i am. i opted for a two year degree due to my "advanced" age  , i just wanted the fastest and most ecconomically feasable way into the field, especially knowing that any hospital in the country will pay for my to get my msn degree.

good luck to everyone!!

margaret

Hello, everybody! My name is Jill and I have been married for 7 years and have a 5 year old daughter. I am going to start Wallace Community College in August of 2004. I want to get my ADN and then go to the University of Alabama for my BSN. I hope to one day go to graduate school (for what I have not yet decided).

I am very excited and I cannot wait to start this journey.

I am so happy to have found this board. Thank you all so much for answering our questions.

Good luck to everybody in pursuing their dreams.

Jill

hi i'm rita,

finishing an associates in social work and tranferrring to a nursing program, i only need nursing i, i, iii, iv i have all the preqs in my social work program except for chem a (help), a&p i, ii and drug calulations. i am 51 and have five sons; ages: 30, 23, 22, 18, and 15. the chem a class is hard, i never was taught the basics.help!

rita:uhoh21::uhoh21::uhoh21:

I had Chem a few semesters ago. It is not that bad, don't be afraid to ask question or to ask for extra help. Most teachers are more than willing to stay extra or come early if a student needs it. Also find out if there is a website that goes along with your book, I find that when I use the website and the books together I learn alot easier. Most websites have cool game sto help with memory of the subject, flashcards, practice tests, and more. Hope this helps.

Catherine

PS. I take notes in class and use a microcassette recorder and record the class. That way when I go home I review my notes while listening to the tape, making sure I didn't miss any fine details.
