hi stephany and all who responded...i am joanie and have been a nurse since 1992. i got my aas in nursing from philadelphia community college. it too me quite a while due to life before i found the time to get my bsn. i just finished up 3/31/04 from university of phoenix online and plan to return this september for a duel degree (msn/mba-hcm-health care management). that is 61 credits and when that is done in about three years i plan to continue and get my doctorate degree in education.

i am a home care nurse and am not planning a change in my practice setting any time soon:-)))

Hello everyone!

I'm 39, married (for one year so far:-), no children, and I am in the 3rd semester of 5 semester ASN program at my local community college.

I have previous, advanced degrees in an unrelated field and have been working in printing and graphic-design for the last 12 years. I had been thinking about making a change for a long time and had never taken any action until...I got laid off! I live near DC, so our area had a lot of job loss after 9/11. Started taking my prerequisites (had never had a&p, or chem), got them all out of the way, and here I am. I opted for a two year degree due to my "advanced" age  , I just wanted the fastest and most ecconomically feasable way into the field, especially knowing that any hospital in the country will pay for my to get my msn degree.

Good luck to everyone!!

Margaret

I have a year left. I'm in a new program that lets me keep my day job and go to school nights and weekends. I don't know if I'll make it but I'm giving it a heck of a try. I feel like a visitor in my home but it will all be worth it someday. We started out as a class of 14 and are down to myself and one other. We are each others life lines. I am really getting too old to do this but I wouldn't have missed it for the world. Say a prayer for me, please.
