How about a thread that will allow us to introduce ourselves to those who are new and the new students can do the same.
I am Stephany, 42, mother of 3 children, a son 22, a daughter 15, and a son 13. I am an LPN of nearly 11 years, and I am in my first semester of a five-semester rn program.
Care to share?
Hi everyone -- my name is John. New student in NYC. Very grateful to have gotten into a school. Now that the dream is a little more real, I am trying to learn as much about the community as possible. I noticed that there is a new-ish wiki about nursing:
http://en.nursingwiki.org/wiki/Main_Page
I don't know anything yet, so I don't have much to share. But this group (you all) must collectively have a great wealth of information to be shared. Take a look when you have time and consider contributing an article.
And again I say "hello." --John (aka samizdat)
Hey there everyone!
My name is Jamie. I am 23 and I just got accepted to DePaul University in Chicago, Il for their non-nurse masters entry program. I am very excited. I have been working as a secretary at a hospital as well as volunteering while taking prerequisite classes. I had to take all those science classes I never took for my BA in Speech Communication. I am not married nor do I have any kids, but my boyfriend and I hope to start on that track when we are both done with school.
Meanwhile, I was hoping someone may be able to assist me with a bit of a worry. DePaul is a bit $$ and I know several nurses who signed contracts with hospitals pledging 2-3 years of work following graduation while the hospital covers tuition payments up-front. If any of you are at all familiar with this and would be able to help me get started I would greatly appreciate it. If anyone has specifically heard of any hospitals in the Chicago land area, that would be fantastic. Thank you. I look forward to getting to know you!

Hey everyone!
My name is Christopher and I was just accepted into a nursing program at the hometown university. I am so excited! I have so much to do though, such as immunizations and a medical and a certificate of conduct and so much more. I just want to say Hello out there to all the other nursing students and hope everyone has a great year!:nuke:
Hello to everyone. I am an LPN using the ladder program to complete my RN. I graduate December 19. Yoo-hoo. I has been a very long road. I plan to go on for my BSN if I still have any energy left after this. I am 24 and married but no babies.
For those of you just starting don't worry you'll make it. It is very very stressful, but if I can make it this far you can too.
Hi all,
This isn't my first time posting to this sight but the last time that I was here I was taking my prereqs. I am now into my 3rd course of my 7 course nursing program. I am taking Med-Surg. and so far no complaints. My previous courses were Nursing fundamentals I earned a B, and Pharmacology and I earned a A for that course. I pray that I can continue with my success throughout this program. To everyone I wish you all the best and I hope to see you all on the flip side of the NCLEX, as successful nurses.

I'm Alli, I'm 29 years old, married and mom to two boys (ages 3 and 1). I have a BA in journalism, but have been a stay-at-home mom for a year and a half. The journalism jobs that I have held in the past paid very low and were not fulfilling, in my opinion. I like being at home with my boys, but still feel like I need to change directions career-wise and provide another income in the family. I am excited to start the ADN program in January 2007. Thankfully, there are some pre-req's that I won't have to take because I took them previously. I'm a little nervous about balancing school and motherhood, but I know God will help me. I am also thankful to have a supportive family. I hope to get to know all of you better. This is a great site. Best wishes to all of you!

Hi, y'all. Know I posted on here before I was a Nursing student, but now I am one, so I'm saying hi again!
I've just finished all my prereqs and am now hoping and praying to hear next month that I got into the nursing program at my university. Love it all as yet!
