moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html
we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!
I work full-time, but sometimes over, and I currently have 7 credit hours. Staying afloat for me has been very tough. I believe it all depends on your combined obligations as well. I have a family, and I am very family oriented. I am commited to all the roles that I have which makes it even more difficult for me. Next semester I intend on taking about 9 credit hours, but I would not even consider taking more than that if I want to be successful.Denroc72
I plan to be right there with you! Keep in touch!!

Hi everyone :) Congrats to everyone who finished and got applications in for Spring! I did not manage to get all of my pre-reqs done; I ran into the same problem some other people had regarding the Computer Systems CLEP. I passed it, but my score wasn't 65 or higher. ISU wouldn't accept it. So now I am working on getting the rest of my tests done, taking my time to study for them since I have more time now! I will be there in Fall 2010, looking foward to getting going!!
Hey all!
I take it that most of you are testing out of all the pre reqs without the help of TCN. Do you have to be officially enrolled in a college to send your clep scores to? Or can you just do all of your test and then request a clep transcript and submit that to ISU? Thanks to anyone who can help.
I am getting ready to start taking the 4 CSMs. Does anyone know the current books? I found them on ebay, but they are from 2005. Are these still the current books. I do not want to go through TCN (at all), so I'm trying to find the most recent CSMs. If anyone can offer some guidance, I would greatly appreciate it.
Thanks all! I'm anxious to get this phase over and move on to the next one!

I had to take the computer literacy test before I applied to ISU and was not enrolled at any school. To my knowledge just take you CLEP tests and then send your scores to ISU as you have said. That is what I did.

The only way to know for sure is to check with TCN on their website or customer service. I have the 2006 editions but not positive if there are any changes. I have not had to get any new updates for any of my study guides that are from 2006 though so maybe the 2005 editions are still good too.
You can apply to ISU anytime. I applied, got a Student ID # and then sent my scores in. You do not have to have any classes to apply to the University. Your Phase 1 and 2 classes/tests need to all be completed before you apply to the college of nursing, so you apply first to ISU and then to the college of nursing and that could be a year or so apart.
