Indiana State University BSN Thread for Current Students

moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html

we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!

Hey everyone, I was wondering if any of you could recommend where you found places/people to give your exams. I thought I could find a proctor at a public library, but no go. I live the in San Fernando Valley in los angeles, are there any other gals out there that could recommend a place? I've been calling community colleges, librarys... not sure where to go next. Thanks! :D

Try sylvan learning center ($55/hr!!) or the Cal State or UC. Sometimes if you go to the testing office, they will provide proctoring services.

thank you! :) I will pray that you pass yours too.

:( :( :(

I didn't pass Nurs 328.

Problem is -- I didn't think it was that difficult, and when I went back to the modules to look at what I might have gotten wrong, I can only find a couple of things.

I missed 75% by about 2 questions.

At this point, I'm probably not going to be able to get in for spring 2010 and may have to wait until June for Fall 2010.

Has anyone used any other study aids besides TCN? If the next deadline is in June 2010, I may as well start studying now (LOL).

The weirdest part is that I really didn't think those questions were all that difficult, but obviously I missed something. I even looked at the CSM right after I got out of the test and I still can't figure out what questions I might have missed. At one point, you could see which questions were wrong, but for some reason, I can't see them anymore.

So sorry to hear that. Keep your head up, you will do it just may take a little longer! I use the ATI review books. Not sure if you can purchase from Barnes & Noble or try the ATI website. I got mine from ISU bookstore.

mmm....sylvan for me was 30 a test...which is cheaper than the local community college that allowed me to take it...maybe each sylvan charges differently???? I would totally ask around

ballerinagirl,

I was wondering the same thing...I remember before we could see the answers we got wrong but now it just states the grade (even at the testing site)!!!

I have just got all my materials to ISU to meet the Nov 1st deadline and now have to wait 3 - 4 weeks for acceptance information. For those of you who are current students I was wondering how long phase III lasts. I was initially told by a rep from TCN that you can choose between an 18 month or an accelerated 9 month program. Is this true or feasable?

Also I passed the 4 CSM's, took them all same afternoon after studying for 3 weeks non stop.

Hello..

I am from the Valley too:D Arleta to be exact, I am graduating from an LVN program next month and am looking into ISU. I was wondering if you have already started and if you can give me the basics on how this program works. I would really appreciate it, I have emailed a few people and left a message but no one has responded yet and I wanna get things going ASAP. Thanks for your help

I don't think there is any kind of accelerated plan? Advising worksheet is on web at http://www.indstate.edu/nursing/pdfs/advising-worksheet/advising-worksheet-LPN-BS.pdf

Also unaware of an accelerated program. There are several classes that must be completed in succession and I think 6 clinical classes (may be 5, can't remember) so would be difficult to complete in 9 months. Don't listen to what TCN reps tell you, please contact ISU for information.

Hey everyone, I just mailed in my application on Oct. 27th for Spring 2010 but I had a CLEP test pending. It was Information Systems and Computer applications (which is super hard),my last pre-req and I got a 55! 50 is passing for CLEP but I think ISU requires a 65 for passing. That is the only thing setting me back.

Does anyone know the policy on that. Would ISU reject me for that pre-req?

Also, once you apply to the College of Nursing, is there a waitlist? or are you automatically in if you've fullfilled all the requirements.?

Thanks

Hi,

I also got a 55 on the CLEP and they will not accept that. I took IVY Tech's on-line computer class last semester. It was a great class and I learned a ton! I also applied for Spring 2010. Phase 3 is however you plan it to be. I plan on taking only 2 classes a semester and I only have the nursing courses left. I have all the other credits. I work full-time and will continue to do so. It will take me 5 semesters to graduate!

Good Luck,

Brenda
