moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html
we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!
Does it *have* to be purchased through TCN or can you show proof that you bought it elsewhere? Some of us that are about to graduate are discussing some of our issues with ISU and one of our professors is passing the info on to the dean. The connection with TCN denigrates the program's reputation IMO. It makes us look like a diploma mill. That's one of my gripes. I wish the school would produce the modules themselves and dump TCN altogether!
According to their web, you do have to show proof of purchase before a 2nd attempt

I would still email her and ask if you show proof of purchase from ebay or another student if that will work. It certainly can't hurt to try. $495 is worth a phone call even if she says no. :)

Chaxanmom, you have a wonderful idea. The school needs to cut ties w/ TCN and sending out legitimate study resources like textbooks instead of making you buy things through TCN. If I ever get through this program, I would jump on your bandwagon in a heartbeat. I am already hanging on.
Actually -- I passed! LOL.
Just got notice this morning that I passed (by the skin of my teeth), but it saves me $495.
Thanks.
Rats -- I'm so mad.I failed N224 -- I only got 49 out of 51. I should have re-read my questions again, but oh-well, we learn the hard way.
Anyway, now that I have to show proof of purchase from TCN -- what is the real price of the module? Is it $495? And can you only buy one module? If they make me buy all 4, then it might make me reconsider the program.
Thanks
hi kylea,I applied for the spring 2010, just waiting for my acceptance letter!
Did you take NURS 328? I wanted to compare answers and see why I got some answers wrong. =)
thanks!

I haven't taken 224 yet. I have to take that one in about two weeks. UGH! I took Child and Family the other day, and missed it by 2%....really mad at myself. I will be taking that one again soon. I guarantee I changed the answers to some questions and changed a right answer to the wrong one; hate it when I do that. I always go in telling myself I won't change any answers unless I am ABSOLUTELY sure that I put the wrong one and I end up over thinking and talking myself into changing answers.
Any info on how closely the test questions parallel the review questions and the bank questions on 224 would be extremely helpful.

Patrick, don't do TCN for Algebra. Go to Aleks.com and use their program. It's for homeschoolers, tutoring, and adult learners. It's $20 a month or $99 for 6 months, etc. It is *excellent*!! I did the trial for my 11 yr old and then just signed up for my own account to refresh my math skills. I'm considering CRNA as a potential next step and probably need to take calculus so I want to be prepared.
Anyway, they have college algebra on there as well as college algebra w/ trig if you prefer. you can do a 3-day free trial to see how you like it. Then you can just take the CLEP test when you are finished. No TCN! Yay! :)

Unless you have another lab science you're gonna to have to take chemistry with a lab. I haven't done Aleks for any science stuff so I'm not sure how that is. Sorry. :)
