Indiana State University BSN Thread for Current Students

Published

moderator note: this is a continuation of a previous thread that was very long and split by member request. this thread is primarily for current student discussion. there is another thread of faq: https://allnurses.com/distance-learning-nursing/isu-faq-thread-365878.html

we had to take micro, stats, math, biology, couple of humanities, etc, etc. maybe she meant that's just the one specific to nursing, as in in addition to the rest of the gen eds? anyway, good luck on both your applications!

Anyone out there who is in the LPN-BSN at ISU and works full-time?

Just wondering how many credits per semester is doable?

I just had to share -- I passed the 2nd attempt at Nurs 328...yay!

Congratulations! I am trying to decide on Excelsior or ISU. Does ISU accept financial aid? From reading the post, it seems like the test have to be done at a testing site or through a proctor. Is this true for all of the test? What about blackboard on ISU's website, is that used? Do any of you have any of the books needed that you would like to pass on?

ISU is regular university just like any other so they do accept financial aid.

Everything works the same way so you would fill out the FAFSA form and apply for federal financial aid and then have your information sent to Indiana state.

Sorry I forgot to answer your questions about the tests. The 4 tests are done online and you have to have a proctor. For me, I went to the local state university testing office and they agreed to proctor the exam for a fee. Sylvan Learning center also does that. I found that more and more students are doing online tests that need proctoring so it's not very unusual anymore.

Thanks a bunch. I am going to finalize my paperwork to get started for the fall. Tight now this is the most economical way to go. Do you or anyone you know have any books you are willing to part with?

Hi everyone I am an LVN in CA and have been thinking about doing the LVN-RN program through ISU and TCN. I would really like to know how the program is. I have heard alot of bad and good things about it. I would love to hear some of your opinions since you are going through it right now. Thank you and good luck to you all.

I work full-time, but sometimes over, and I currently have 7 credit hours. Staying afloat for me has been very tough. I believe it all depends on your combined obligations as well. I have a family, and I am very family oriented. I am commited to all the roles that I have which makes it even more difficult for me. Next semester I intend on taking about 9 credit hours, but I would not even consider taking more than that if I want to be successful.

Try sylvan learning center ($55/hr!!) or the Cal State or UC. Sometimes if you go to the testing office, they will provide proctoring services.

I work at a VA. A social worker from my unit agreed to help. Try a nurse or your manager at work??

Good Luck! :yeah:

I am carrying 9 credit hours, One 5 hour challenge exam and one 3 hour challenge exam. I just transferred to days from nights and am getting used to reorganizing my time!!! (My wonderful husband said he wanted to see me AWAKE sometimes, LOL!!! Next semester I want to carry 12 hours as well as clinical. If there is a 9 month accelerated program, bring it on!! WHere did you hear about it?????

I also am very family oriented (8 grandchildren) 1 son at home in college and active in our church.

Have a great day,
