Indiana State University BSN students

Published

Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!

I went to a vocational school for my LPN so as long as it's accredited its fine.

Thanks Chaxanmom! Ok-another dumb question, how do you know if a program is accredited? The only place I know to look is at the NLNAC and it's not on that list. It's a 1 year Full-time LPN program that prepares you for the NCLEX-PN and that's about all I know. I am attending an info session in Jan., so will find out more then. I'm just ready to get going!!!

Edited to add: The program I am interested in is Approved by the Delaware Department of Nursing

Ask the college that you want to go to and ask them if the program is accredited with the NLN -- National League of Nursing. Passing all those courses and you are eligible to take the LPN test. It sounds like the program is accredited. Bring all your questions to that meeting. It sounds like something that I went to at my technical college and got my LPN.

Good Luck,

It's not accredited by the NLN, I checked on the website. It's a newer program, but is approved in my state through the Board of Nursing. It's not a college, it's a vocational school. I would hate to get through it, then expect to enter ISU's program and be denied! I left a message with ISU, but have not heard back yet. Anyone know of a specific person I can talk to there (with a direct number)? Thanks!

As long as your state nursing board approves it then the program should be ok. I am currently enrolled in the nursing program and I received my LVN from a vocational school in CA.

Does anyone know if Women's Studies is part of the elective courses we have to take?

I saw it in the ISU brochure but not the list of classes that TCN gives you.

and what is the difference between the TCN for California residents only list of classes and the rest of the states? Do California students have to take more classes? on that sheet, it says in big letters on top FOR CALIFORNIA RESIDENTS ONLY and am very curious why it says that

I wondered that same thing. I think the requirements are all the same. Maybe they charge more out here. Wouldnt surprise me.

Has anyone used the passyourclass study material you see on ebay all the time on passyourclass.com? has anyone had success with this material? To the people that passed the test-outs, what study material did you use and for which tests?

how about instantcert.com where they give you questions to study and test yourself online? anyone had success with this?

Low on funds, so trying to find study material that is all in one, where I don't have to buy more than 1 book.

I bought this CD on ebay with study guides for each clep, dantes and excelsior test required and they say its like having the answer sheet, but I have yet to tell you if this is true or not.

thanks all, good luck w/ your studies!

I too am low on funds. I checked out the passyourclass link... it looks legit. I'll probably try using those materials. Its not like you have to use the TCN mods. All the same info, well, hopefully :)

I just purchased the Pass Your Class Dantes study guide for Lifespan Developmental Psych last week. It has of 46 pages total: 33 of the pages is content/review material, 10 pages of sample test questions (50 questions in all), and a page for the answers. The guide brief and to the point. Some may say that it is not enough material covered to review for the exam, but according to the writers of the guide it is all and the only info you need to pass the exam. It's fairly cheap around $23.00 on Ebay. We'll see how it goes. I will schedule to take the exam next month.

Nevermind, I found the answer by reading this thread backwards! :)

California has some different requirements for the clinical portion. You have to go through another college to have those arranged. Not sure of the details though.

Hey everyone!! I am new to the site and very excited about it ..lots of helpful info..Well I'm getting ready to take the Intro to World Religions and was just wondering what to expect exactly. Is it similar to the Practice Exam? Thanks
