For those who do not challenge, 224 carries I believe 90 clinical hours.

Passed NUR 106 today and very happy:yeah: Hope NUR 224 isn't that bad......

Congrats!!:yeah:

Hello

I am also considering doing the ISU program and was wondering with the distance nursing program if there is a possibility that you will not be accepted into the nursing program once the prereq"s are done? I would hate to get all the prereq's done and then not be able to get accepted. If anyone out there know's for sure please let me know. Thnxs:jester:

I don't think there is any way you can be guaranteed a place in the program but I also have not heard of anyone not being accepted either.

I also want to throw this out there.

Has anyone out there sucessfully CLEPed out of Algebra? The score you need to get is the highest of all tests (it is 65). Most others are only 50. I spent a whole semester trying to teach myself Algebra and could not come even close to getting a decent score on the practice tests. I have been out of school 25 years.

I am now enrolled in IVY Tech's Algebra program which will transfer to ISU. I had to take a placement test to get into IVY Tech in which I could not even score high enough to get placement for College Algebra and had to take a "Pre" Algebra course! I am a solid B student. I just don't want to see people wasting alot of time like I did.

The high score also applies to the Information Systems/Computer CLEP. You must get a 65 to also test out of that class. These are high scores!

Here is ISU Website that lists all of the exams and what score is needed.

I just got accepted for Fall 2009 and will be working like a dog to complete everything left by then =).

I just looked at the date of my first exam and that was on Oct 2005. I started with 0 credits. It will have taken me 4 years to test out or take all of the non nursing classes. This means all I will have left is the nursing classes and Spanish. I worked full-time throughout!

Don't rush yourself and expect a few bumps. I am okay with taking my time and am not in a hurry. I have not let this consume me therefore I remain focused and enthusiastic. Once you enter the program you will no longer be able to take your time. Things will be semester-based and hectic.

I originally wanted to enroll this Fall. When all was said and done, I was 1 year off my original plan. Oh well =)

Good Luck to all

I agree with Brenda there is no guarantee, but if it is something you truly want go for it! And congrats to you Brenda for coming such a long way with 0 credits....and don't worry you will do good in Algebra.

I too will be taking it one day, one test, one month at a time....I want to start in the Fall of 09' as well. I have Chem, speech, and 3 challenge exams left to take. I was enrolled for spring into ISU but I have not sent off my application for the nursing school yet....just waiting to see how these exams turn out:bugeyes:

And to everyone thinking about applying or already in the program good luck to you all.:D

Hi S_kitch,

There is not a chance of you not being accepted. There a couple other replies here but once you get your pre-reqs done you contact ISU and they get you ready for the next step. You find your own clinical site. Look through the posts and you will see how other students are doing it. There are a list of different people that you will be able to talk to about the whole process.

Has anyone used the passyourclass study material you see on ebay all the time on passyourclass.com? has anyone had success with this material? To the people that passed the test-outs, what study material did you use and for which tests?

how about instantcert.com where they give you questions to study and test yourself online? anyone had success with this?

Low on funds, so trying to find study material that is all in one, where I don't have to buy more than 1 book.

I bought this CD on ebay with study guides for each clep, dantes and excelsior test required and they say its like having the answer sheet, but I have yet to tell you if this is true or not.

thanks all, good luck w/ your studies!

Hi everyone,

I first want to Thank you all for the wealth of information that you have provided here and also to say that I am sooo excited to start this journey. I have been reading this thread for a few hours and I now have a couple questions if someone would be so kind and try to answer for me. I am starting with 0 credits, just my LPN.. I signed up with TCN on this past saturday so I am just about to start studying for the first test. My question is which modules need to be done before getting things started with ISU? From what I have read some of you are doing them concurrently with nursing courses and so I am a little confused. Secondly, is there some point in this that you can sit for your RN boards before finishing the actual BSN degree? And last question, in your opinion what order should the prereqs be done? sorry for the long post!

Thanks again,

Nique

If you are starting out with no credits....you need all the general education classes done before you can apply to the nursing school portion. Those are the lower level course like chemistry, speech, a&p......etc. The higher gen ed classes have to be done before you finish. If you signed up with TCN they should have gave you a book that outlined exactly what you should do step by step. And if you have question about anything calling ISU is a good resource they are friendly and will help you.

And you don't take boards until you are finished the program. Also you can apply to Indiana state at anytime.....you just can't apply to the nursing school until those req classes are done.

Hope that helped somewhat........:D

Yes, Thanks alot!

Hello All-Newbie to this board here, and I have a specific question about ISU's LPN to BSN Distance Learning option, I am planning on starting my LPN course this fall through a vocational school, not a community college (wait lists are outrageous!) but I saw this on ISU's website:

  1. Completion of a practical nursing program of studies that is from any state accredited community college. The application of a graduate from a practical nursing program that is not state accredited will be evaluated on an individual basis. Credits earned at another college or university will be evaluated on an individual basis in accordance with the University and nursing program policies. Individuals who have a current active L.P.N./L.V.N. license but have no college credit will be evaluated on an individual basis.

It sounds like they only want LPN's who have their diploma's from a college, which will not be my case. Has anyone else successfully began the ISU program without a diploma from a community college? Thanks!

Also wanted to add-this forum has been a great read! Tons of info!!
