Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!
i was just looking on-line about what their charges are per credit and there was a statement that starting 2008-2009, (for indiana state) that all out of state distance learners would now be charged the out of state rate which was 600+/credit. (forget exact #) used to be 200 something/credit hour. very disappointing, and now doesn't make much sense for me to go this route. anyone else get socked with this?
that's not what i find. here is the info from there distance ed page about fees. i just graduated there from a different program and its the same policy that it has been. hope this clarifies it!

in some cases, nondegree-seeking and nonprogram-seeking students may be eligible for the in-state fee rate. for information, contact the office of distance support services at (812) 237-8080, 1-888-237-8080 (toll-free usa), or [email protected]

Nope. I already got my statement for this coming semester and that's not the case. Hopefully that won't be the case for Fall 09 either. After that I'm done but hope it doesn't change for everyone else's sake.
I do have a burr in my bonnet with ISU and fees right now though. I got charged a $60 nursing lab fee for the first time. Uh, hullo I'm in MARYLAND and won't ever see a nursing lab. No one seems to know why that fee was applied but they very clearly said it cannot be waived. It's only $60 but still...I'm still aggravated over the $60 technology fee per semester that both on-campus and distance students get charged and we get a small small fraction of what on-campus students get for their buck. Example: part of it pays for something like 600 pages of printing. I spend a chunk of cash each semester on printer paper and ink but ALSO pay a fee for printing that I'll never use? Grr. Maybe its short-timers syndrome but stuff like that ticks me off.

This probably won't help you much, but there is a couple of things you can get from them. There are a couple of free programs you can download from their website. Microsoft office is one of them, which is good because that is a couple of hundred dollars I think. Maybe some antivirus protection also, but not sure. I know $60 per semester is still way too much, but I wanted to point out that all ISU students can download this stuff for free.

Yeah I noticed that last semester and downloaded Office and that appeased me for one semester. lol! But now I'm annoyed with them again with this new nursing lab fee business. Maybe I'm just cranky but I want my stinkin 60 bucks back or at least a credit at Staples or Kinkos or something. Crumbs from the on-campus students' table? Anything? lol!
Oh and before I forget. I have one more gripe then I will go eat chocolate or something. I have a 3.86 and with any luck (which I will need since finding out that you need a 94% to get an A in N450! :uhoh21:) I can get my GPA back up to a 3.92 in time for graduation. But do you think that means I can graduate with honors? Nope. Sorry Charlie. Not enough credit hours at ISU. Someone hand me a kleenex so I can wrap this pity party up please?
P.S. I know the pill bottle is totally random but darn it if those little icons aren't the cutest things!
I did go back and revisit the site and found out that as long as you have applied only as a long distance student, you can continue to pay only the in-state tuition. I think when I first googled for information, I hit on their notice about the change in fees. (I also wonder if they had a lot of complaints and amended their decision.)
Thankyou Chgoreid!

You're welcome! :wink2:

Yes, I think ISU have some weird rules. I just finished my BS in another major there and boy could I tell you some stories!! :)
BTW, congrats on the good grades!
I'm starting my first semester this Spring (2009) from Cali and I am paying the in-state tuition rate.
Chaxanmom, congrats on your grades. Boo! They should let you graduate with honors and grant you credit based on the "technology" hours (running to Staples, making copies, sweeping crumbs) that you've acquired throughout the semesters.......
I guess I better load up on Staples supplies, Kleenex and See's candies before the holiday sales ends.
