Indiana State University BSN students

Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!

Does ISU offer chemistry through their distance learning?!

I'm not sure since I had already taken it. You'd have to call them and ask. I think it has to be a lab science but I'm not sure. There should be a phone number on the website I posted and they'd be much much better at answering your questions. :)

I don't think so, cause I needed CHEM to and ISU said they don't offer it online caus of the LAB requirement. YOu can test out or take at a community college. I bought TCN book, but it looked to hard so I took it at a community college.

I woulnt be doing excelsior as CA BON does not accept it only option I have is SSU/ISU for distant learning.

Hi, is the CABORN accepting ISU's online LPB to BSN program?

Thanks,

FYI everyone. I just posted the list of states that accept ISU. Just got it from Kim the other day. Hopefully admin will sticky it for us.

Hello out there fellow TCN/ISU students,

I am an LPN working on my BSN through TCN. I am so glad that I found this. I signed up last summer and I am just now getting into reading the materials and setting up exam dates. I took my first test in American History II and I passed!!!!! I am doing priciples of gerontology next. I think this has been a good decision on my part to go this way. I can study when and where I want to and then test out. Driving to school, decreasing the number of hours that I can work, money for gas. These things are were all an issue for me. I also have chemisty and algebra to take. I am not looking forward to that but I will find some help online. I an thinking amazon or barnes and noble probably have some books that can help me.

Hey Everyone,

I just found this today so this will really help me. I have just made the decision to try and do the LPN to BSN program with ISU. I graduated with my LPN August 07. For those of you who have already been accepted into ISU is it difficult to get in? Or are you automatically accepted on a conditional basis until you finish the LPN to RN transition course? I have finished the majority of my prereqs already. Some of my grades were...border line. So I am worried that I will pay all this money to TCN and not get accepted into ISU. Also, can you take some of the prereqs and the nursing courses at the same time? This may have been on the wedsite somewhere and I missed it? Thanks.

No idea if it's difficult or not. I tranferred in a 4.0 GPA and really high TEAS scores. You are accepted conditionally until your testouts and transition course are done...but getting into the school of nursing is not automatic. I would imagine though that if you meet the requirements that you will get in. It's not like Ivy League or anything. ;) What do you mean by "borderline"? There is a GPA requirement and you have to pass your nursing courses with at least a 79%. If you fail 2 courses then you are out as well.

Must you use TCN material to attend the ISU program? Is it a requirement?

Nope. It's easiest to use the modules for the 4 nursing courses you test out of though. They are written specifically for those tests. I've taken one of them...taking another one Friday. And many of the test questions were straight out of the practice test.

Hi! Everyone! I am currently taking technical writing. I feel like I am over studying lol After taking the computer test, I am nerves about taking in what they are going to ask if that makes any sence.I passed, it was was just there wording of it. This time I went to an online to get ref. bks. at a used bk store. It has been along time since I have been in school. Graduated in1995 from LPN school in Iowa. I now live in Ca., work full time and have 4 kids 3 at home 1 going in the air force. Any way! Any tips out there on studying would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I have a question about online program, specifically Indiana State U. Online. How do we learn to do lab? As the representative explained to me, that we will do clinical, 5 hrs a week with a 1 on 1 proctor. But who and how will we learn to do hand on labs....most will b like LVN school i would think. So are we suppose to learn while in hospital only?

My second question is: Will BSN degree thru online schools...ISU Online, be as good as the traditional BSN from other traditional nursing programs?

I'm also in California, so I would appreciate it if someone can answer my 2 questions :) Thank you in advance. Would be cool to form study group for people in Los Angeles area. :)

If you try to test out of a class and don't pass does it count as a retake? I was also wondering if you can test out of chemistry and if so what to expect out of that test. Hope everyone is doing awesome!
