Here's a new sticky for students involved in online/distance BSN programs through Indiana State University. Enjoy!
I took the Clep test for Lifespan Development
Is Lifespan a clep or excelsior exam, On my paperwork it shows tesing through excelsior. If I can clep it for $80 I'd rather do that than ecelsior for $205....plz let me know.
I highly recommend the Physiology coloring book to go along with A&P though.
Did you get the coloring book from TCN or from Excelsior I saw on the excesior bookstore that they sell one.
I think there may be an Excel. and a Clep for Lifespan Devel., I took the Clep. Here is a website that tells you about the different Clep exams.

Hi, everyone! I can't believe I didn't think to look for this forum sooner, duh! I graduated from IU 2006 with my RN...I started the distance RN-BSN program Fall '07. So far I love ISU, and I really LOVED my "Transition To Professional Nursing" Professor, Dr. Frank. She totally ROCKS!
Awesome! I have her for Research/Theoretical Basis for Nursing. I have Peacock for Assessment, Sample for Nursing in Mental Illness, and Fine for Transition. How is the pharmacology for the transition class??
I've done A&P and Microbiology with TCN guides and got A's on both. :) They're tough but definitely doable! I highly recommend the Physiology coloring book to go along with A&P though. Made a huge difference for me!
thanks so much! but you said you got a's...i thought if you did it through tcn, you just study the module they give you and test out. is that what you did? how was the test? for someone who isn't science savvy at all, would you recomment testing out through tcn, or taking the classes on my own???

Yes that's what you do...study the module and test out. You get a letter grade for the test. Honestly, I can't recommend one way or another. Gotta do what's best for you and your learning style. :) The modules mostly consist of memorizing but the tests are very much critical thinking based on the knowledge you get through the modules if that makes sense. They are tough but you'll need the critical thinking skills for the NCLEX anyway.

I would love to here from any grads too but so far no luck....there have only been a handful, I am thinking 5 or 6 so far. I took the Clep test for Lifespan Development, it was tough but I passed. I didn't study for it, just took my general knowledge and winged it...I think I got a 56 on it.
