This is just for the purpose of getting updated or informed and do note that nothing is absolute and in fact things are very fluid or volatile when it comes to immigration matters.

I use this thread regularly to gauge the latest thoughts on anything immigration related. I'm glad the thread was not closed because it's an important source of info for us foreign nurses waiting to come over and it was getting silly, not to mention way off the topic!
looks like it may have been "tidied up" but I'm glad it has been!!
CIR was originally created to deal with illegal immigrants and temporary workers here for a limited time. Nothing more and nothing less. Then it was decided by a few that it should emcompass everyone. But when you add nurses to it, any change to any bill for nurses would be tied to the rest of the CIR, and that was never a good move from day one.Again, you are speaking of things that are in the CIR and do not apply to you in most cases. Your family would be petitioned at the same time as you, what you are reading about is when family members are petitioned once you have your citizenship and could petition your parents, etc. Or siblings. Your spouse and children would be included as your dependents and do not have to leave the country. You are speaking of something that only affects those that you could petition to join you after you have become a US citizen.
Still do not see the CIR passing as it is. There have already been so many changes that it is not even the same as when it was first written.
That makes me feel better. Thank you for the clarification. There is so much information going around as you well know and it is hard to know what is valid. I like you am very much against CIR in particular for the impact it could have on America. I would much rather wait longer than to pass a bad bill. Do you have any insight in the Cantwell Amendment? I have read it has some revisions to it. I realize that it may not even pass but just wondering what you know about it.
Agree w/ Anna. It depends on the demand. Those already way ahead in the line for an interview has the greatest chance.
Those files still in the NVC (for those going the CP route) will have their Visa fee bills sent and DS-230 forms accepted (if paid for) as long as it is "Current". Up to when it will remain Current will be dependent on demand from each country. Some countries will go back to retrogression much earlier than some because of high demand of visas. India and China are one of these countries because of high demand of visas from other fields other than nursing, followed closely by PI and Mexico. The "others" will prob. retrogress a little bit later compared to the PIC, plus Mexico countries because of traditionally lower demand but will still retrogress again eventually.
Those who have filed AOS will also benefit in that as long as it stays "Current" and no one knows for sure until when will it stay that way, the processing continues but there is a line for this too, so if your AOS (I-485) case wasn't taken up when everything was still current then it stops or gets on-hold again. Besides, they do have the EAD they can renew anyway so I wouldn't be worried to much for those who have EADs.

CP = Consular process. If your file is at NVC they will request DS230 once a visa is available for you and also request visa fee
