This is just for the purpose of getting updated or informed and do note that nothing is absolute and in fact things are very fluid or volatile when it comes to immigration matters.

Thanks Lowrence! this is good stuff for retro affected nurses. Hope something will happen by mid 2007.

Hi! I just want to ask when they say "spring" does this mean spring something will get approved or spring visas will be available?...thanks!!!

It should be Spring something will get approved. The hope is that US congress and president may act to release some visas for Schedule A as what happend in April-May 2005.

Yes, that is correct. Hopefully, it can be done.

They are not relying on the CIR anymore as it has a good chance that it may not even be approved before the year ends and if it doesn't there is a smaller chance that it will get approved in 2008 as that is a Presidential election year in the U.S.

Lawrence do you strongly believe that retrogression will be lifted on spring?

Sorry, I can't predict anything. Let's just hope for the best.

Synopsis:

Long-time AILA advocate, Judy Golub, predicts in Texas Civil Rights Review, that we will have CIR by October or not at until 2009. CIR, of course, is the broad-ranging Comprehensive Immigration Reform passed by last year's Congress. Golub's comments reflect the reality that no Presidential candidiates will want immigration reform as a significant campaign issue.

Golub also lays out a "get what we can" scenario. Readers of HLG's blog should note that the Healthcare lobby's current approach is best be described as a "hope for CIR," but plan for "get what you can." Accordingly a three-tiered "get what you can" approach is being used:

1. Attach to the Feb. 15 CR: Odds = 20%

2. Stand-alone 90,000 Schedule A Recapture this spring: Odds = 75%

3. Attach to the Spring Iraq War Funding Bill: Odds = 50%"

I just wish they would choose the number 2 option which is recapturing 90,000 visas..We need immediate remedy for the retrogression especially for those who are stucked in Packet 3 and to those who have just been petition by their employer-like in my case...The Comprehensive Immigration Reform Bill, though a very good thing, will take a long time before it will get approved, it has to beat all the odds..I dont think that it is very much appreciated by most members of the US congress, and its estimated time to get approved is by next year or 2009...How long can we wait?, so I just hope that they would just distribute/ recapture 90,000 visas this year..
