Do you ever have those days where you wake up completely frustrated? I normally do like my job, but today I felt frustrated and half convinced myself to apply to PetSmart and cuddle kittens all day while working my way through school. Hahaha.

My very first job was at a PetSmart, and I can tell you firsthand that the grass isn't greener on the other side. Worst job ever, you never actually take care of animals, but you do get yelled at by self-important management.
Hang in there, a much better future is ahead of you :)
Oh well that's a bummer. I would love to volunteer for the pet adoptions on Saturdays, but that would defeat the purpose of saving money for school.

Lol, reminds me of a coworker who said she is going to take early retirement & apply to make donuts at a local gas station. She was dead serious.

Haha!!! I was a pet stylist at petsmart for five years before I became a nurse.
Probably not as exciting as nursing, but you got to see all those cute dogs! Did you hold that job while working through school?

Just volunteer for a rescue or shelter. That's what I do. I also foster dogs. Sometimes it is more stressful than working as a LVN though. Other days it cheers me up with some kisses. Dealing with the public at adoption events is no different than dealing with families though.

I've had those weeks instead of days, including this past week. Leaving nursing is a tempting yet terrifying thought. However, it is what it is, and I just have to remind myself of the good weeks. And running away to Petsmart is a dangerous idea- I once walked in to buy cat food and walked out with 2 foster cats that I've since adopted along with my other 2 cats and a dog.
I did this very thing! I'd had a rough week at work and now I have a little fur ball.

I took my dogs to the vet today & thought "I should have become a vet tech... hanging with animals all day sounds fun!" Then I realized that I would only want to be around animals like my own...well behaved! You get terribly behaved animals just like you get terribly behaved patients
My cat would be one of those misbehaved ones! She's the sweetest thing, but when she sees that thermometer coming toward her hiney, it's game on.

LOL I have a kitty like that. Sweet as pie at home but he is a two-person transport when we go to the vet!
